Hey everyone. Has anyone had trouble with the trunk switch located next to the steering column. My has not worked for some time and I cannot find the fuse for it. The only way I have access to the trunk is with my key fob. Any ideas?

I guess it helps to read some of the threads before I post on here. I noticed another thread discussing a similar thing. Sorry about that.

:screwy:Yes hello there I 've also checked the manual & the Fuel door & trunk are on the same fuse port. I also further read and found that there is another section of the fuse port for this and its (under the rear seat) .The fuel door works fine.

I don't have a power motor in the trunk but I understand that there is a Trunk Lock Relay PN# 12088567
Just a question of finding it.

Well my issue is not with the trunk, when I use my remote trunk release it opens (Thankfully). I was just wondering if anyone has had to replace the switch inside the car.

The switch in the dash just gently pops out in a unit with the fuel door button. It's about as easy as tinkering with this car gets. Could be you have wiring trouble instead of the switch though.

Anything is possible, but its the only thing on the car that doesnt work, except for the cassette stuck in the tape player. But thats another story.

I had the same problem with my 96. It was a blown fuse under the back seat. when u pull the fuse box cover off the top of the box lid is a diagram of all fuses. You will also see another fuse box which holds a multitude of spare fuses. Goodluck!

I'm going to give the ole' rear seat a (slight) push to the rear and then up to see whats going on. I'll let you know if the fuse was blown for the remote key.:cya:

I have a 2001 and my trunk and fuel door buttons dont work on my remote or on the drivers door panel...I noticed there is a relay for each one, but is there a fuse for them?....I dont see them in the diagram of the fuse and relay box.

The classic has a relay for each in the drivers side fuse box and a fuse in the passenger side box, #22.

:smokin:Well, I went ahead and gave a slight push on the left & right side of the rear seat. (not the center) then-up. Their it was the fuse box, relays as well. Battery their too. Checked all the fuses with a test light. The relay for the trunk could be heard while clicking "on" the remote button. So now I'll have to take some time and check out the trunk switch. I'll let you know how it goes.

:1zhelp: OK thanks! I checked all fuses & relays... all good...Haven't pulled the switches (fuel door & trunk) out of the dash yet. Is it just using a small screwdriver and pry out the trunk & fuel switch from the dash? one at a time?

:nono: Don't use a srewdriver.:nono: Both the fuel door and trunk switches are connected to the same plastic frame. Just put your fingers in between the top of the swith and the clear plastic and then pull down and out at the same time.

:)Yes there it is, the "clear plastic cover" just above the
switches. I'll post here later with the results of "if" the switch for the trunk has power or not. Fuel door button is working!
