The cooling fan on this car never runs. It have tested it by applying 12v and it spins like a champ. The fuse is good, too. Where is the engine temp. sensor located on this beast? I believe it may be bad, although there's no code saying that's a fact. Thanks for any ideas!

umm the other thing that might be more likely is if there is a relay for the fan. i think a relay is more likely to go bad than a sensor, even though it still could be the sensor. i dont know for sure if there is a relay for it on there or not but im just giving you another posibility.

... or that it hasn't been hot enough to run.... or that its too quiet to notice from inside the car over the engine noise.
I have a 1996 Impala SS with two fans. To the best of my knowledge the second one has never run. I'm sure it has but from inside the car its nearly impossible to hear them. I had a celebrity V6 (1983) that I could hear it, but only because one of the mounting tabs had broken and it rattled. Its quite possible that the sensor (mine was a water temp sensor located in the front head) is bad, but it can be tested. I also wouldn't worry about it unless you see the temp light come on. Its very conservative and would warn you far before any damage occured. I think the temp light comes on at 230 and you still have lots of room there before it hurts you.

Thanks for the tip. I was charging my ac the other day and had a good bit of heat at the radiator and condenser. I know how important air flow is through the condenser to keep the head pressure down and have max cooling. Just strange that when working on this thing over and over, I've never seen it run. How does that sensor come out? I think I've found it and removed the plug, but what holds it in the head? Would like to test it to be sure. Thanks!
