Gears have never felt so good!

My buddy Matt and I just performed a rear end swap from my other Mustang to my "Monster Notch" project. The coupe had very poor 2.73's, and the rear we swapped into it has 3.73's. All I can say is WOW, this feels like a totally different car now. Even going from 2.73's to 3.73's in my auto was nothing compaired to how it feels with a manual tranny! Here's some pics we took of the process.

There are many places.... Hope this helps

About the gears.... I know the feeling Craig, isn't it great? I can't even imagine what 4.10's would be like with a 5spd!!! This summer I am getting draglites. I'm probably going to run 15 x 5's in the front and 15 x 8's in the rear with 5.5" bs. In the rear, I want to run 275/50R15 nitto's. It is said that the added height will net a longer first gear, which I look at as a benefit. As of now, all I do is spin right through first. Its fun, but get annoying when you are trying to hook good. I'm getting upper/lower control arms to help out as well. How is traction with your nitto's?

Yeah, I've been looking at drag lites too, that's my next purchase after upper and lower control arms. I haven't decided weather I want to get SSM liftbars or just regular BBK solid ones. As far as the Nitto's go, they hook great. Only thing I don't like is I get lots of wheel hop with the 3.73's and the Nitto's when launching. Hopefully control arms and new bushings will cure that.

They have a great deal on ebay for both upper and lower control arms with polyurathane bushings. Its like around $150 for both the upper/lower. They're not adjustable, but everyone who has them says they're awesome and they are at a great price.

SSM liftbars are awesome when using a street tire but I would stay away from SSM liftbars when you use DR or Slicks.

My 91GT Conv AOD has 2.73 gears, so I'm assuming yours are the same, however I've heard of AOD cars coming with 3.08 or even 3.27's from the factory.

3.08's was only in T5's. AOD's came standard with 2.73's, but 3.27's were also an option.

I hope that i get some good results as well. I get my 3.73's put in tomorrow. I wonder if i will feel a good change coming from 3.23's to 3.73's.
