Hi, I am new here and I would like to buy a v8 Camaro or a Firebird.
Are they both the same if so any advantage one has over the other?
Also I personaly like the TransAM but the Formulas are cheaper.
Please let me know what the recommended year model for under $10G.

If you llive in Michigan than over by Michigan Avenue and Willlis There's a T/A I belive it's for $500. In Milan where I live at there's about an '86 Firebird. It all depends on how the owners built the engine. Where are you going to be able to hit top end at? Nowhere's. So, go for more acceleration instead of top end. Check out dk-enterprises.com and check out my neighbors bird.

I am interested in a car that is somewhat newer. 95 or newer with a v8.

you should save a little bir more than if u want a LT1 or Ls1 which are the v8's that come in the newer firebird/camaro. If you spend under 10 g's ur probably gonna pay for one with close to 100,000 miles on it or in bad condition. I paid 15 g's for my 98 trans am that was listed at 18 g's and it had 43,000 miles. also firebirds def have the better look. performance i think is about even firebird may even be a little bit lighter.

The Formula has the "advantage" over all of them because it is the lightest f-body. I recently picked up a 94 Formula with 130k on it in excellent condition for $3000 on e-bay. For 10k you should be able to get into a lower mileage 96 or 97, or a higher mileage 98 LS1, especially with the current high gas prices. The only V8's selling well seem to be inside of trucks and suv's now.

if you got 10k to play with, i dont think youre gonna have much trouble. third gen camaros and firebirds are extreamly cheap right now, bought my RS for 3500 a while back, and the IROC, which is a bit of a project (bought her in arkansas and drove back home) for 2300. and now even the fourth gens are getting down to 8k or so, and not nessesaraly beaters. all you really gotta do is shop around. ebay, although not nessesaraly the best for buying cars, as you should never buy a car you havent seen in person and driven. is great for finding cars. i found my IROC on ebay, my brother found his 73 bronco there, neither of us have any regrets. as far as camaro vs firebird, its all about which one you like best, overall look, feel, options, etc. generaly speaking firebirds tend to be seen as a bit higher class, but us rednecks love the camaros ;)

A Camaro is nothing more than a "poor man's" Firebird. The Pontiac is higher priced for more than one reason!

I agree 100% but what are all the reasons?....better looks, lighter, more rare, but what else???
