release buttons

i'm having trouble with my 95aurora, my release buttons for the gas tank and my trunk button don't work at all. did anyone have this problem and if so how did u fix it. any suggestions wanted. thanks

I always like to check the easy things first - is the trunk release button in the glove compartment set to ON or OFF?
Although this won't help with the gas filler.

but of course i checked the easiest first and yes the button is ON.

I would look at the contact behind the buttons. Might be high time to pull the dash.
Worst case scenario, use your keyless for the trunk and the fuel release pull string *roll* (I cant believes its an effin string)

but of course i checked the easiest first and yes the button is ON.
So I suppose you checked the fuses too.
They both use the same fuse according to my owners manual.

thats something i haven't done because i don't have the owners manual. where exactly are the fuses?

This is from the 1998 owner's manual - so it may be a bit different on yours.
There are several fuse boxes, you want to look at the two that are under the back seat.
The one on the drivers side has fuse #3 "Trunk Release Relay"
The passenger side has #22 "Trunk and Fuel Door releases and Trunk pull down." and #33 "Fuel Door Release"
There's also a fuse box for the instrument panel and one under the hood.

The little panel where those two buttons are pops out by itself (be gentle!). You don't need to take the dash apart to check out the backs of the switches.
I used to have trouble with my fuel door. I fixed it by bending the metal clip that latches shut on the little solenoid toward the filler neck. Of course my trouble was that I'd have to hit the button many many times before it would pop open. I could defintely hear it trying to work though. Sometimes it would work before the soleoid got hot and tripped the relay, sometimes not...
