You have to change the PCM chip. I belive all the newer cars with the exception of poilce cars have a lowered top speed.

for the smell, you might try soaking cotton balls in vanilla extract and put 'em in a bowl on the dashboard. Or you could try leaving an open box of Arm and Hammer baking powder in there.

Thanx for the post/idea...I was thinking to put seat covers on the seats so my clothes would'nt smelll kinda funny after driving. Its leather interior so what ever was done it that car is pretty much stuck in it...But I will try both of your advices. Thanx again--By the way I took a air freshener designed for home central air and put it in the box behind the dash that switches the air from regulat A/C to Max A/C. That works great for a few months, I suggest trying it for any vehicle.

You know what else you could do, you could take up smoking the same kind of cigars yourself. :smokin:

If you change the top speed you might need to get a stronger drive shaft and maybe a some higher speed rated tires.

I can't take up smoking again. The Ladyfriend would dump me, although that would remove 95% of the complications in my life!..But thanx for the advice. Changing the top speed by 25 - 30 mph might just warrant another set of tires, the drive shaft would be ok. The speed sensitive steering might have a heart attack though. Better check with a Ford tech. :)

I know on the T-birds you need a new drive shaft because the aren't strong enough to handle that kind of rotation.
My dad is a Ford Tech (senior master tech) thats where I learn a lot of my information.
You might be right about the Crown Vic drive shaft. I think you are they are used as police interceptors, but at least get some speed rated tires.

For the smell go to walmart and get some Ozium. It runs for about $4-$5 for a 3.5 oz bottle, but it's very worth it.

If you are wanting over 110, the drive shaft, steering sensor and a definate tire change is in order.
The driveshaft is not the problem. Actually it is the u-joints. They are not strong enough for the rotation. Best bet is to go to a salvage yard and try to find a cruiser that has been hit in the front. Do not get a rear hit as the frame buckles and it throws the driveshaft into the rear of the tranny. While there, see if you can also get the rear coils and the front and rear sway bars. They are heavy duty. replacing these items will get rid of the body roll and the ocean ride that the Vics have.
