tuning needed for raised boost?

On an sr...including items to allow it to breath easier ( e/i/d/bov etc...) , fmic (because side mount is only good for stock boost)...and a boost controller ( electronic or manual with boost gauge.. doesnt matter)... When turning up the boost to say 11-14 psi , in that range , is tuning needed?...or can you just leave it on stock 7 on the street and boost it up to 11-14 range with a respectable mbc or ebc without doing harm to the engine or is the hurting the sr?.... I've heard in many cases people doing it and saying it is ok......... is this right?? im stumped.

The stock turbo and internals can handle 13psi, you can keep your ionternals intact, even tho it's safer not to, but for tuning, I'd think you would have to ajust some things if you want rly good performance, but going up to only 11-13psi, probably need bigger injectors or something.

Just make sure you are adding adequate fuel. I would upgrade the fuel pump and regulator and use a safc or some other kind of fuel control.

ok if i get something to give it the right amout of fuel such as an afc..... how will i know where to set it at..... it is hard to judge when the car is tuned right

That is called "tuning". I'm sure someone on here has the same engine you do and is running the same boost. If not, someone on google does. They should have some baseline settings or good setting and you can go from there. Or you can take it to a dyno facility and the people there can tune it. You can always tell how a car is running by the spark plugs. White=lean. black=rich. You want like a tannish color.

o0o man you damm newbies.... here we go..
the freaking sr20det s-13-s-15 can handle up to 16psi on stock internals the stock t-25 can put out about 15psi easily, the stock side mount will be fine if you boost 14psi..
as foe tuning the ecu adjust it self to added air flow up to certian psi which im not sure of.. the stock injectors which are around 330cc if not more are good for about 300hp.. you do not need to upgrader your injectors for this little tunning, with the turboback exhasut, intake and raising boost you can raise to 14psi without the aid of a tuning device.. btw the s-afc donst wrk that well unless you have bigger injectors, the afc gets the ecu to recognize tha you have bigger injectors with stock injectors the ecu will copmanisater for more or less fuel.. do supporting mods tubo back, i/c piping, intake, b.o.v. 255intank, adj fuel pressur regulator, idrium or copper plugs, blaster coil, boost and a/f gauge and a boost controller.. you will be fine.. also if you get a b.o.v. you need to vent it back into the engine b/c the car runs shitty when its vented into the air, hks sells something to correct this but it will just be an added expence where as you $ can be spent better..
good luck

Well i need FMIC because i live in vegas.......so i will buy before i up the boost.. i have ...turbo exhaust, downpipe , bov , and intake
so fuel wise i should stick with the stock injectors because 330 is plenty... get an adjustable fuel reg....and some af and boost gauges.... can someone reassure me on this is there something else i need

255intank fuel pump..plugs,if you want you can look into a jim wolf chip for you ecu that will maxamize your fuel and air settings..
if you want more backup go look at other websites decidated to 240sx or read the f.a.q. here they will tell you about the same thing i told ya

ok thanks.... answered all my ?'s..... One more though.... totally diff topic.....just dont want to start new thread..... When upgrading to an lsd .... are 1.5 and 2 ways only suited for drifting?.... in an s13 will 1.5/ 2 way lsd produce oversteer or understeer?

first of all, let me tell the forum that this guy above doesn't know what he's talking about. im not trying to be cauky or etc but everything he said above is wrong.
the sr20det (s13,14,15) motor can handle 22-24+++psi on stock internals. my buddy is running 22psi on race gas with stock internals and 1.2 head gasket and he's just fine.
the t25 can take up to 18psi but it loses its efficiency past 14psi. my t25 can't hold more than 10psi... it depends on the condition of the turbo.
the stock injectors are 370cc and can handle up to 250whp.
stock smic is good up to about 10psi, any more and you're going to blow your engine up. a fmic, depending on brand, is good up to 26+psi.
get your facts straight before posting and acting like you know everything....

How the hell could stock internals hold 22-24psi? That's BS.

i never said i knew everything.. i did know that the internals can handle more than what people give credit for and same with the t-25.. alot of people underestimate them and underrate them..and i stated i wasnt sure in my post for example "the stock injectors are AROUND 330cc" see around im not giving a spific cc..also "can put out ABOUT 15psi easily" see im stating that im not clear on how much they put out.. i was giving this guy a safe estimate on how much he can boost his motor without seriously messing things up.. i wasnt correct on all the numbres but all my figures were around the right amount, its been a while since i stoped focusing on the sr20det motor.. so by saying i dont know what i am talking about is wrong cause as u can see i do..

ok damn first off dose any of u own a sr20det , second it can only take at safe boost 14psi anything more will mess up i know i was there helping tune 3 other 240sx whos owners wanted to go 16 to 20 psi hahah fuk there engine up badly even though we told them it would so only 14 and change the fuel pump and injectors man and add 91 with fuel booster. just watch out for the fire balls.

Be careful when messing with the fuel system. If you rich it up too much, a backfire can be dangerous for the turbine.

hahah rick james mother fucker hahahha well ummm tats true but u just have to know what ur doing so u dont blow ur motor like this one fool did in his s13 to much fuel went bang on start but if u do what i said to do it will work fine o ye reprogram the ecu it will help as well ull bost at least 260-280 with what i told u
