Hey i have a 68 mustang coupe, Does anybody know of any places that can be a good paint job that is a decent price?? Let me know?

unless its just the area i live in there should be tons of paint and body shops locally you could call, look through your phone book and check...im gettin my car painted soon and there are a hand full of shops i can choose from.

Thanks, i'll look around and find some places. The only thing is i just dont want them to have my car for weeks and i want them to be good, you know what i mean?

just call them up and tell them what you want done and im sure that they can tell you how long they will have your car...well i think when it comes down to paint, your really gonna end up getting what you pay for

Hey does anybody know anything about raditors, i have a 68 stang and it seems like i have to keep filling it with water like every week. It used to not be that way but just recently it seems like it over heating all the time. Anybody got any ideas on what it is or what to do??

what motor do you have? I know with clevelands if you put the headgaskets on backwards you'll have all sorts of cooling problems, I think it is the same with most motors. If you used Fel-Pro head gaskets, there is a little tab where the front of the gasket should be, should stick out between the head and block... if one or both arent out front, you found your problem...

i didn't think that headgaskets had something to do with the radiators overheating. i dont know much about the engine all i basically know is that its a 302 my brother does most of the work and i just help. I just try to learn so its a little confusing. Do you think you can explain it to me?

Well, the headgaskets dont serve any cooling functions themselves, but there are holes that go from the block to the heads, and there are corrosponding holes in the headgaskets. If you put the gasket on backwards(again, I'm not sure if the same holds true for a windsor or FE or 385-series, i know it is for a cleveland), some of the passages are blocked, and therefore you do not get coolant flow. I did this on my cleveland, put the driver's side gasket on backwards(hey it was my first rebuild...), and I had all sorts of cooling problems. As soon as I shut off the car, the backpressure from the pump trying to push the water into the drivers side combined with the high temperatures would blow a whole bunch of coolant out of the motor. One time I had the radiator cap off to monitor the coolant level and the hood fully open, and the motor stalled. Coolant shot out of the radiator and hit the hood... probably a good 3 gallons of coolant came out.

As long as you don't go to Maaco you should be alright. Assuming there is a Maaco where you live. I had my first "real" car painted at Maaco, i had my stealth painted a metallic pearl baby blue. When it was all said and done, the paint job(s), they had to repaint the car after they already painted it once cause they screwed up an entire side. They tried to tell me it was the pearl coming out in the paint, when actually you could literally see the old color coming thru the new paint job. They had my car for OVER A MONTH, just for a stupid paint job!!! When i initially brought the car to them they said it would take 2 weeks MAX! But whatever, i paid them and promised them i would encourage anyone i meet to never go to Maaco. Just a little FYI.

Hey thanks, i dont think i have a Maaco where i live. Im in florida so im not sure, but thanks anyway. I know to stay away from them.

They don't even sand at maaco! And when they do they don't wash between sanding and painting cheapskates.
