Installed a supercharger on a 2003 tacoma V6. Put around 200 miles on it and the check engine light came on. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what it was. Looking for any openions or sugestions. Thanks in advance. Josh

Get the code from the ECM

Could just be your O2 mixture. You may need to reset the settings. Unplugging the battery for a few minutes will help out. If not, find a mechanic with a code reader and they can plug into your engine to see what the problem is.
Did you install it yourself? What was the end cost and how difficult was it? And how much of a difference does it make?

You really need to know what the problem is, especially with an s/c. Invest in a obII code reader from your local parts store. If you have a laptop buy this instead. www.obddiagnostics.com Its the BR3 unit. mines on order. Did you install any fuel mods??? When I installed an s/c on my 2.7 I had numerous codes that had to figure out.

Dude. I did the same thing to my 03 and the damn check engine light came on and ater diagnosing it for 4 days we finally found out what it was. Yes it was running lean. Yes the air fuel mix was off. Yes the o2 sensor was picking up the difference in mix and yes it was triggering the check engine light. All because the throttlebody was not mantled correctly and it was pulling in air through the gasket. Runs good now. 60 horse gain. 265 to the wheels with the intake and exhaust. Gunna do the computer next.

I bought a supercharger for my 03 tacoma and put it in. It ran great but after the third turn of the ignition the engine light came on. Pulled the code and of course it was running lean. Checked all the vacuum hoses and the throttle body gasket everything checked out. Just out of curiosity I replaced the K/N FIPK with the stock airbox. Reset the computer and still no light. Not to mention the truck actually ran better without the K/N. I wouldn't recommend the FIPK with supercharger.

This guy did alot of investigation into installing a supercharger on his 3.4L.

This will answer alot of your questions, including why not to install an FIPK, lean mixture, etc.
