Calmini Rear Bumper

I got rear-ended and am thinking about getting the Calmini rear bumper/tire carrier (or waiting for the EOE one if it comes out anytime soon), to replace my stock setup. I have not done any modifications to my suspension. Do you think it will be a problem to add the extra wieght to the rear without an upgrade to the shocks or springs?

It should not be a problem.
I would imagine that it will just make them wear out faster since you are adding weight. Not sure how much the new bumpers weigh compared to the stock.

Skid Row also has a rear bumper in the works...

I guess we'll have to see how the Calmini wears the rear leafs. My experience with my tire carrier/bumper was the leafs started to compress more. Obviously the extra weight was one reason, I also think that having the tire out on the rear of the truck might contribute to more strain on the leafs.

Add-a-leafs remedied the problem, and long term I'll replace the leafs with the 10+ ones from National Spring.

One other suggestion. Get the AAL's before your springs go completely. They'll work more effectively instead of just trying to restore a shot set of leafs.
