hi all
Im about to buy an integra that i think would be eye candy for a car theif. Before you guys call me an idiot or what not id like to get some ideas on what to do to protect it. Im sure that all you integra owners on this forum know that integras top the stolen car lists. What kind of security systems or other methods do you use to keep your car from getting jacked?and where are the cars security vulnerabilites?

that and get a club, anything really that makes the car harder to steal will help, but when it comes down to it, if they really want it they will jack it.

well for me, i have :

-alarm
-that bullet proof foot club that goes on your brake pedal- (you the know what im talk n about. the one they always show on infomercials on tv) i put it on my clutch pedal instead of the break pedal. you cant start the car unless you press the clutch down.
-Starter kill switch. run a switch from your starter and hide it in a secret place.

-if all else fails, buy a pittbull and leave em in your car =)

Its really a matter of deterrence

If they want your car that bad, they'll do anything and everything to get it, and i assure you they will.

Heres a list of things i would do:

Alarm System (w/some kind of paging system)
Ignition Kill Switch
The Club
The "other club" (one that goes down at the pedals)
Some type of secondary motion needed to start the car (eg. Hold down cruise control botton and/or press clutch in 3 times )

I 2nd the thought that if they want it, they'll get it. What you want to do is make it very hard/long for them to do it and also make the little idiot punks walk.

I would get a real nice alarm from Python or any of it's cousins. I would beef up any area of the car that could be prone to break in with extra sensors like prox. or mercury tilt switches. I'd also get a back up battery for the brain and siren. I'd also look into the paging type alarms or 2-way LCD or LED alarms. Take a look www.directed.com

Although i've never had first hand experience with lojack, i've heard good things about them. They seem to be a good option also.

honestly there isnt much that can protect your car lojack may help alittle. but they have ways of getting around the lojack. just put like 5 or 6 different killswitches. its what i did. when its at home park in side never ever outside.

there is ways getting around lojack?
how so?

lojack has no idicators on the vehicle so how will the criminal know its there?
if there was ways around it im sure lojack wouldnt quarentee the return of your car

well there are indicators mostly they are behind the drivers airbag or passengers or somewhere behind the radio.

Well I don't know if anyone has mentoned it yet becasue I don't feel like reading the whole thread, but the new clutch pedal deal apparently works really well. You put it on the pedal so it can't be pushed down, so the car can't be started.

do you think a car theif, will spend the time sitting where they are stealing your car ripping the thing apart lookin for lojack sorry i dont think so

lojack isnt really an alarm, but theft recovery. my car got stolen and it was recovered in like a day or two with the lojack. its a good investment in the case that your car does get stolen.
to prevent the theft do like the guy in the saturn commercial did, put a car cover that makes your car look like a hooptie. hahaha

the best type of security is to make it more agrivating than the others. theives always go for the cars that are the easiest to break into. get tint if you already don't. it's hard to see into a car to see what they have, and get the paging alarm.

ok this is what they can do to determine if a car has lojack, one they steal the car park it somewhere if in the next 1 to day someone picks it up(tow truck) then it had lojack. two they steal the car have a team of guys or girls and start taking what they want while someone else looks for the lojack. but if ur an idiot and park ur car outside be prepared to have ur car stolen. me i never park my car outside never. i have 5 kill switches. that clitch pedal thing works but it just slows them down. if they want ur car they are going to take it like it or not.
