Steering Gear Changeout

The steering gear box on my 90' Toyota V-6 4X4 is leaking power steering fluid (About a quart a month). Two years ago, I had a Toyota mechanic re-build the steering gear box to save money fixing the problem. It didn't work, and seems to be leaking from the upper part of the unit. I usually go with the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but this is not the case with this.
My question is, Can I go to a salvage garage, and pick up this part at a considerably lower cost than a new steering gear box ($200 used compared to $1,000 new)? Also, if this is a viable alternative, is there anything else that needs to be purchased before I get into the replacement. I have looked online, and it seems that steering gear box's from 89-94 will work, as long as they are power steering. After reading up in the repair manual, it doesn't look like there is much involved with the switch out, and it would save me alot of money.
ANY information would be helpful. Thanks in advance to your replies.
