Interior sketches?

Has anybody done any interior sketches? Im having a real hard time with them, its nothing like sketching the exterior because there is little perspective.

I'm making a bunch of sketches for my hot rod project, and Im working on designing the interior, which is coming to be a pain.

So if anyone has any links, sketches, anything about interior sketching can you post them please

Get the book How to Design Cars like a Pro!!! DO IT!!! I have said that a million times! If you are interested in design it is DEFINATELY worth your TIME and MONEY to buy this book!
When drawing interiors, try thinking of looking down one of the A-pillars. I'll show you an example if I get time to do some work tonight...

An example of your work would be excellent, but if your too busy dont worry about it.

No sarcasm, I would really love to see more interior sketches.

It it wasn't, then I dunno if I'll be able to do it before Sunday. I still haven't done any work tonight, plus it's my bro's graduation/birthday in the next couple days so I don't have all that much time. I'll see if I can squeeze in some time tomorow after school.

Here's just a lil' about what I personally know about the interiors. I wouldn't draw anything face-on yet, those mostly are just like industrial designs, like showing where the clusters are, what new buttons look like. What you want to do is style. For example, the one in that book. A good start is the one in the top left of the right page, while the red one (third down) is more realistically drawn. It's like a perfect scale drawing compared to a loose quick sketch.

Actually, I got that Thom Taylor book from my library, and while it is somewhat helpful, it is nowhere near as helpful as I thought it would be.

As for the interiors, do you own or have access to a car? If you do just go sit in the driver's seat and take note of placement of the dash, materials, etc and how the light affects them.

When you start rendering try to use a different technique for the interior than what you did for the exterior to really accentuate the difference from exterior to interior.

That is all I got, and take a look at that interior chapter again, it has a couple jewels in it.

The book isn't oriented towards how to draw. It is how to design, providing backgrounds of the actual subject and providing insight from those in the industry. I guess you were exepcting something else...

If we are taliking about the same book (How to Draw Cars Like A Pro by Thom Taylor) it IS about how to draw. I was disappointed with most of its walk-throughs, especially the rendering one.

Is there a book called How to Design Cars Like A Pro?, if so who is it by so I can look it up. Thanks

I started something face on, and decided it didnt look good at all. Im working on basically an open design to show what the dash and seats would look like. The car is a two seater.

Now I cant find my damn book, do you know where I put it?

No access to the car, it is a design for a model hot rod I am building. All of it is conceptual, so I'm starting from scratch pretty much.

Wow, that's alot of leg room!

Wow, that's alot of leg room!

There's really not that much leg room. If you look, there is little perspective, its basically a view to show the design with out having to follow your normal proportion/perspective rules.

Nah, I wish I had. Its Chip Foose's rendering for the grand master. I have been running sketch after sketch after sketch. I have a huge pad in front of me just trying to sketch my design plans for the hot rod.
