Truthfully, Lexuses have been found to be alot more solid than Benzs. Insurance, reliability (if thats what u meant) price and parts (if you mean tuning) i'd go for the Lexus. The styling though on the benz beats the es300 by a bit, but i still like the ES300's old style and i would go lexus. Also the ES300 has more power i believe too than teh 230.

I have never driven a Lexus before but what I have read and learned is that Lexus is more dependable than Mercedes-Benz are. Plus the service and parts are alot cheaper on a Lexus thatn a Mercedes. Plus the value of a Lexus stays excellent. Mercedes value drop down very fast in one year. I say go with the Lexus.

My mom had a Lexus, 96 or 97 ES300. She says, HER BEST CAR OUT OF HER 38 YEARS OF DRIVING, besides her 70 and 72 Datsuns. I remember sitting in the Lexus as a 'lil kid, one time i turned the ignition on the car, while it was running. It was soo quiet i didnt even know it was on :lol2: . Plus, the power was amazing, when she floored it, i remember hitting my head and crying cuz it hurt so much when my head got whipped into the head rest. . good times :smokin:

I still say Lexus too. Dad had the 3 SC400s before switchin to the BMW 740i.

i strongly recommend Mercedes Benz over Lexus. If you plan on getting a Lexus- keep in mind that its just a Toyota with a high price tag. Also...Insurance on a Benz is Cheaper than Insurance on a Toyota- but this also depends on the driver and their record.

In regards to Mercedes Benz and BMW...I can assure you that German cars are built like no other :) and I will be the one to recomment that you TEST drive it.

Best of Luck!

You do realize...you sounded very stereotypical, choosing another car over a name.......you dont choose a car just over its name. It jsut frustrates me, how stereotypical people get, its ike how peopl wont admit to buying the Volkswagen Phaeton because it's a "VW with a $90,000" tag. It's a really good car, and got great reviews. So, maybe Lexus is a Toyota with a higher price tag, its still a very reliable car, and a great one.

It also annoys me as well. And YOU do realize that basically every luxury car our there is owned and made by a larger company. Does that affect their quality? Probably not. And who is merc owned by now anyways? GM?

You probably shouldn't be posting in an automotive forum. :disappoin

First of all, it was a question. I really did not know who their parent company was, or even if they had one currently. Obviously you missed the point of post. It was to point out that virtually every luxury car manufacturer is owned by an economy car company. Chrysler being one of them....But does that make the quality of merc cars any worse? No, not by any means.
I'm really not sure as to why I am responding to your childish post in the first place. It was obviously well thought out...

I would hardly call Chrysler Benz's parent company. If anything, Benz bought out Chrysler.

MB is owned by Daimler Benz actually, with Chrysler under its wings. Its the third biggest automotive group in the world, behind GM and Ford, and is the biggest in europe.

They own some pretty big names in the automotive world, with Smart, Ilmor, and McLaren to name but a few.

And its all down to Mercedes. It is because of their fantastic cars, and popularity where it counts, in sales, that the company has had enough capital to invest in such other influential businesses.

I would in generell always decide for mercedes. Lexus is trying hard, but in the end they cannot reach the high quality standards of mercedes..:sunglasse

Mercedes hasn't had high quality standards since the mid 90's??

Lexus is currently a no brainer!
