Wondering if anyone have experience with cinnecting an external CD chnager/player to a stock stereo?
Any advice on the brands/models of CD changers/players that can work well with Delco stereo will be much appreciated.

I have not seen the back of the stock stereo, but I heard that the cable used to connect the changer to the stereo is a 9-pin head plug (both ends). I also heard that Delco stuff is pretty properiatory (wrong spelling, i guess), and its better to geback Delco adds-on, but they are expensive though. I had thought of using Pioneer/Alphine/Sony CD changers to connect to my stereo via an unused FM channel , but I am skeptical about the compatibility.

Thanks!

im not too familiar with this situation but i think it is possible. maybe someone will correct me on this but i had a friend who did what youre trying to do in a 300 zx. they sell cd changers that have their own control panel, a remote that you put up in the car and it controls the changer solely. again im not sure on this, but if you just get a changer with the built in remote then you can just splice the changer into the factory harness to play over the car speakers. there might be some kindof harness out there to simplify the process.

and the unused FM channel thing is cool but doesnt work well. my friend had a portable cd player that did that instead of the cassette car kit thing. aside from finding an empty FM channel there are generally other stations that broacast out of their frequency and over the unused ones...

There are cd players that can be controlled by factory delco headunits. As long as your stereo has an aux button then it can control the changer. There are also other brands than can be controlled via an adapter plug. The FM cd changers have a much more powerful FM transmitter it seems than those on those portable cd players. Also when traveling if you do find interference on your FM station you can switch it with the remote.

The Delco CD changers are really Pioneer systems with a Delco name. You can always get the changers that plug into the antenna lead.
