DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors

Diamond = Mitsubishi
Star = Chrysler
Motors = Motors


its when Mitsubishi and Chrysler merged the name DSM was created so the motors in the 90-94 and i believe part of/or all of 95 are DSM (dont remember exact years) but since they are the same motor as 96-99 everyone calls the 1st(90-94) and 2nd(95-99) generation eclipses, DSM's!
