PowerSlot. They are Cadmium plated to prevent rusting on the hat portion of the rotor. The edge of the actual rotor surface will almost always rust since rotors have to be made from iron, unless you want to pay the $$$ for ceramic or carbon rotors.

I know theres probably tons of threads with this question, but since you seem to be pretty knowledgable, what pads should i use. If it helps I drive a 95 civic ex coupe with GSR swap. I would like to avoid as much dust on the wheels as possible. Thankyou.

Axxis brakes have the lowest dust and best stopping power that I have seen out there.

I'm skeptical about Axxis. Most people I know have had best results from AEM pads. They seem to have the least dust, I have them on my Civic right now and I LOVE them. I've heard more bad stuff about Axxis than good, but most of that being in the racing realm of things, they basically SUCK when it comes to stuff like auto-X with them. I'd get AEM though. The best pads I hear of are Hawk HPS and HP+ They seem to have the best stopping power of any street pad out there. I have a set I'm waiting to put on when my AEMs are all gone.

Well. I have the AXXIs rotors and brakes on my BMW 540i sport which use to have a huge brake dust problem from OEM. I am not driving it too hard or taking it to the track, therefore not noticing a difference in stopping from the OEM. SilverY2KCivic probably knows a lot more about this issue than I do. I am just telling my personal experiences. As far as axxis pads and rotors to perform properly, they really have to be bedded in properly and the procedure is listed on the website below. If you dont bed them in, you will not get the full affect and longevity of the pads and rotors.

You hit the nail squarely on the head, clune. New brakes are ALL about bedding and breaking them in properly. It'll insure correct pad contact, as well as prevent the rotors from warping WAY early when breaking them in and heat cycling everything.

Of course when it comes to brakes, things will work differently on different cars, and also different people have personal preferance. I'm not in anyways saying don't get Axxis pads, I'm just saying what I've heard from quite a few people that I know that have used them. But I also look at it from a racing/track standpoint too, so my opinion on components will be a bit more biased than the average driver.

Check the site that clune gave a link too, and also check out www.coximports.com (which is where I got my AEM pads from, but they also are authorized retailer of Axxis products as well). Hawk HPS pads are about $45-$50 depending on where you get them from, and can be gotten from Pep Boys. :cool:

With Axxis pads, you may not notice a differance in stoping unless you use like the "Metal Master" model of Axxis pads. Axxis is more of an OEM replacement with higher temp tolerances and resistance to fade, though not nessacerily giving you better stopping power. AEM's you'll notice slightly better stopping with. I know i did when I got mine and paired them to a new set of Power Slot rotors. They don't fade on me unless I'm going down a steep hill at a decent speed (talking like 6-9% hill downgrade :eek: ). Otherwise brake fad is non resistant. I hear that Hawk pads will provide even better stopping power and even more fade resistance ability and hold up better and bite strong when on the track with them. There's also EBC brand pads (you'd look for the EBC "Green Stuff" pad). Those can be got from many shops, and Pep Boys also sells them as well for about $5-$10 LESS than Hawk pads. I hear they can fade though at times, and produce a bit more dust than EBC claims that they do. Point is, even with low dust pads, the harder you use them, the more dust it's going to produce, no matter what.

The only axxis/pbr/repco pads I've ever used are the "metal master" line. I have never seen the regualr line, though I am sure it exists. I suppose that's just because it doesn't interst me. Anyways, I have powerslots rotors and Axxis/PBR Metal Master pads on front, and I notice some improvement. I don't race or anything really, but I did notice some slight improvement in braking no-the less....it was enough of an improvement to notice. However, again, I don't race, so this improvement held true for me on the streets, I have no clue how they 'll hold up on a track if that's your thing, though it'll be better than stock, none-the-less.
