I'm working on that kit as we speak. I'm also lowering it and fitting 15 spoke OZ rally wheels from a Tamiya Subaru rally kit.
Don't bother asking for pics yet. As soon as I get a camera I'll take pics of all my built kits and this one. :)

How do you lower a car? Could explain it, maybe with some pics?

Quick question!
Is this a curbside (no engine detail) kit??
Are any new Fujimi or Tamiya street car models made with engine detail these days??

Thanks for the pics. It does have a nice style and shape to the body.
I.M.O it really needs a lowering job and bigger wheels.......looks like another order to HLJ coming up

I have my eye on the Mine's version Warren! I recommend that if you fancy one!

Ohh, I'll probably get that after I finish the Mine's S15 I just got. I like it because they molded the bumpers seperatly unlike the Mugen ITR when was just a cover.

You guys keep saying you lower the cars. How do you do that? And would it be able to move (tires) and steer still?:p

I just seen that VW Beetle you did, looks nice. Thats pretty low. But if I had a choice or even know how to lower cars, I would get a kit from Vielside and lower like crazy!;) Milimeters from the floor even though it is already pretty low.

But if the wheels are lower, won't this clog the tires in the sockets? Sorry...meaning the tires won't be able to spin or pivot to steer.

I am thinking of buying the same Lancer EVO VII but not the one with the yellow EVO on the cover (GSR). I'd rather the RS since its known to be faster since its lighter. I hate the rims on them though, they are just some crummy stock rims without hub caps. So i plan to order Enkei NT-03 18 inch rims. With a lowering job, looks nice-r. Just gotta know how to do it.

I am thinking of painting it white, just like that AMAZING job you did (Guiddy) on the Subaru Impreza WRX STi [Primera; not trying to diss you or nothing]. I asked a few people, they said it looks REAL!
Nice camera work too.

Do yourself a favor and glue your wheels so they do not roll...You never know when a model might roll right off your shelf!!

As for lowering, it depends on the model. A car with strut suspension will usually have a hub that uses a pin to mount the wheel. Cut off the pin and replace it with a piece of sprue or rod (plastic or metal) mounted higher on the hub. If there is no room to do that, look at adjusting the ride height of the suspension by trimming the shocks and/or springs and gently bending the A-arms upward. I always put the wheels on the car last, so I can make any ride height adjustments while knowing how the car will sit. Stance is everything!!

Here's a great .pdf brochure all about the EVO VII, including pics, schematics, text (in English!), and some history about the previous EVOs.

Thing-A-Majig: That Evo VII looks niiiiiiiiice. Too bad you can't get a nicer camera. That model really deserves a place in the gallery. Keep up the good work!

Murco: I was sorta kicking myself for gluing my wheels so they didn't roll on my ITR, but your comment on rolling off the shelf makes me feel better. It's a 4 foot drop to the floor!

Jay: isn't that my link from the Mitsu Lancer forum? ;) or did you find it on your own?

wow thanks twist, but my model isnt nearly as good as some of the ones in the model gallery, but you cant really tell from the quality of the pictures. it was my first real model, and i made it before i found a place that carries rubbing compound. its funny when i first finished the evo vii it was perfect, but now when when i look at it i just think "what happened?" :(

I do the same thing when I look at some of my old models. I think they are perfect at the time, but 3 months later I begin to realize that I could have done better.

I think we all have that problem (except P-Man all his look good:) ) the main thing is that as we go along the models get better and better not in the other direction.

See I never thought my ITR looked that good. Of course, building in the presence of such Modelling Giants as Dan and Warren (amongst others!) might have had some effect on my opinion of my work. I think that my ITR is a good first attempt. Heck, I bought the thing just to try things and see what worked and what didn't. So I think it came out nice... considering... :)

Dont be so hard on your self guys. We all have to start somewhere.
I look at some of my first models and i think the same thing.
My first model i ever done of a Tamiya car i thought to my self, "I only need the spray can, some black and silver"....i done my first 2-3 model like that untill i thought to my self that if i'm going to be spending so much money on such good Tamiya kits i might as well do the things better.

It all takes time. The more you do the better you will become. I still think i'm hopeless when i see some of the others that ppl have at shows
:( :(

EXACTLY! I try and make each model better than the last. I was actually scared of the air brush before and would hand paint everything. Just trying to paint 90% of the model with the airbrush has make a HUGE difference already. I'm still having a hard time getting the body as smooth as Warren and Dan get them. Seems like I need to put a lot of effort into getting mine half way decent.
