hey man, behore we went blown we were runnin about 900 hp but tjhen went to a littlefield 8 71 which gave us about 1300 hp ( with a few other mods). the we cracked our block and rebuilt a motor with a little more cam and a bigger blower which is a 14 71 and now we make about 2000 hp.

I'd have an idea. Drag race maybe? but...68 chevelle...you're going to need to provide ALOT more details if you want an accurate answer.

You better do some damn research about superchargers before you decide to bolt one on. You could easily fry your motor if you don't know what you're doing.

... not to answer for him (ok, I am answering for them :D )
That kind of hood sucks air off the engine.
The scoop as air gets pushed up and over the scoop it creates negative pressure (vacuum) behind the hood which pulls air out of the engine bay.
