Your horsepower is only limited by your wallet.

There are 2 rx-7's near my house, the first one is an 86 it has rims, exhaust and performance clutch, it is rusting in some areas like around the door, no power steering and its non-turbo they are asking 1500, the second one is 87 gxl paint is great, blue with black stripes, got an exhaust and some dumb spoiler, bother cars have about 100,000 miles on them, the second one is asking 2500, are these worth it considering both are non turbo, and they are gonna probably need work?

Im not really into RX-7's, but they are cool, I like 300zx's thast my area of knowledge, what is a good deal on a rotary then, keep in mind, in this area they are hard find, even though there is a mazda dealership near my house, and around the corner there are two for sale, ironic ay?

Well they are not very common here either. Usually if you wait a little while you can find one in nice shape with a crate motor or rebuild. I bought mine off of www.autotrader.com . Just check that website everyother day or so and you will find a good deal. You could try test driving one to. That helps the most really. My friend is giving me a ride in his TII tomarrow. It's setup for autocross and is making 335 to the wheels. I'm stoked.

I was fortunate enough to have a specialty rotary workshop that specialises in rebuilding and selling old Mazda RX7s at a reasonable price, like five minutes from my house. Maybe you could try to find a shop that does a similar thing?
Otherwise good luck...be patient, A car that old will probably need work but if you wait long enough, and check out as many cars as you can you will eventually find one that stands out. If you get a good one to begin with it will save you a lot of trouble later on.

There's a Mazda dealer near my house think they might have something like that?

Maybe. But if its a new car dealership probably not.
Hell, why not go have a chat to the Mazda guys and see if they know anything about the older rx7s. Theres a good chance that atleast some of the people working there will be rotary enthusiasts.

Just be sure to buy a Turbo II. I almost bought an N/A about 2 years ago, but waited. Dont get a 240sx. You will just procrastinate about getting an SR20, and you will be stuck with a slow KA. If you get a stock turbo II with low miles, you will be happy with the speed and you will like the fact that they are cheap to modify. People say they brake alot, but if you take care of it, you shouldnt have any problems. I myself also almost bought a 240sx, and im glad I didnt. Be different and build a Turbo II

don't tell him what to buy. man if your knowledge is in a 300zx you should consider that first, but if you wanna spread your knowledge around a 240sx and rx-7 are great cars, my cousin owns 2 240's ones a hatch and the other is a coupe, look great, reliable, and you can either swap an SR or turbo the KA(this is what I reccomend, plus its more original) and if you buy a non-turbo rx-7 you can always rebuild and bridgeport it and all the other stuff that I'm not taking the time to list, and you can beat TII's. or you could buy a TII, which you'd probably need to rebuild unless you found one already rebuilt, then do bolt on's and be pretty fast that way too... anyways its all about what you want man

I argue this point all the time with my dad, he says one car sucks, but i say it is good with proper maintenance, most cars are, if you look all over the web on different type of cars you will find that there are groups of people that love each and know its down falls, so when someone says ooooo this kind of car sucks, its usually cause they dont know much about it
anyway, i dont know what car im gonna buy because im on a limited budget and time frame, so its probably gonna be something cheap and not to abused

Hey, sorry for taking so long with the reply. havent been on the net in a week or so.
I live in mill Park, in the state of Victoria on the continent of Australia. Probably a fairly long underwater drive from where you are.
If you wanna see an example of the type of car im talking about go here www.selectmaz.com.au and check out the cars for sale section.
