Well, i got my G back on thursday. It had been in the shop to get the cv joints and the water pump fixed. That night, my best friend was trying to open the trunk, but it re-latched before he got to it. Snap. My spoiler, from the middle mount light, broke clean off. fixed that perfectly with some really strong epoxy from the hobby shop i work at. Yesterday morning, dirving to get donuts at 6:30, i fall asleep. I it was a 2 lane, 1 way road. Wake up suddenly when i hear branches not-so-lightly hitting my windshield. jerk the steering wheel to the right and hit the gas pedal, left some nice black marks as i got back up onto the road. then i stopped, gathered my senses, got out. The good news: no new dents. The bad news: no driver's side mirror. You see, the mirror pretty much disentegrated when the tree hit it. Well anyways, tiem for me to get some sleep. I'll keep you all updated with my repairs, destructions, and miscellaneous mayhem.

--oh, any idea how much a whole mirror and stuff costs? i still have the mount, but need everything else.

ya try to stay awake when your on the road! go get some subs so it can keep you up, or open the windows all the way and let the cold air wake you up. the point is NOT to get comfortable. anyways, hope you dont fall asleep again, and thankfully you didnt crash your G into a tree, or a pole in my case... :(

MB makes their seats nice and firm so you dont fall asleep. So if you can afford one, get a nice CL600 or a CLK 55AMG. But hey its not that bad. My friend did the same thing in his Chevy but he totaled it. So be happy you still have your car and your life.

I really am happy just to be alive. i've been through a pretty bad wreck before. Back in June 2001, my mom flipped our 2000 Toyota 4Runner and a 19' Coleman pop-up camper into about a foot and a half of mud & nasty water. that sucked but at least we were alive. no injuries either. and we were goiung around 60 mph when that happened. i had slowed down to below 30 mph. only the left side wheels ever left the pavement though. later on i saw a brand new camaro off the road, sitting on top of some trees that it had bent over. nobody there, just a cop walking around it looking in. i guess a moron teen from my school did it the night b4 while it had been raining and just left it. that made me feel so much better about myself though. i'm gonna head out to the dealership tomorrow (i hate that place) and get a price on a new mirror.

Your Mom too? Geez, can't ANYONE in your family drive? :D
j/k, man. glad to hear your alright. Hopefully next time you're that sleepy you'll pull off and get some rest. Risking your life (and the lives of others) isn't worth it.
A guy i work with got in an accident last Thurs. He was coming around a corner and plowed headlong into another car that was pulling into the street. His Passat is totalled and he looks like total crap. Bruised all over his chest from the seatbelts, two black eyes, busted up nose full of stitches. Ouch.
Be careful out there, guys.

but i wasn't sleepy at all when i left. and i didn't even feel sleepy while i was driving, it just happened. scared the shit outta me though. f i feel tired i usually do pull over and sleep or rest for about 5-10 minutes. i made a rule back when i had the mystery machine/derby car/Camry (many names) that i would never drive unless i felt completely and totally alert and focused, and that i would never do anything that would put my car in immediate danger. oh well though, shit happens. my friend brian got pissed last night cuz i wouldn't let him drive the G, but i let my other friend Heather drive it. She's licensed, but she's also totalled a car. He's not even licensed except for a motorcycle. He thinks i just don't trust him. i told him like it was: get a license, you can drive my car. my insurance doesn't mean shit if i let an unlicensed driver drive my car. actually i've got liability only, so if i wreck it, i'm screwed. time for some sleep. i'll keep y'all informed as always.

I don't let anyone drive my car. If i'm dying and need someone to take me to the hospital, i *might* consider letting someone else drive my car. But, they had damn well cover the interior in plastic so my blood doesn't stain the leather!
I will be letting my fiance drive my car though. Eventually the car will probably end up being hers. Unfortunately, she'll be re-learning to drive a stick on the G20. Cross your fingers that my tranny holds up. :D

Say all you want about the Infiniti dealerships and their service, but my second visit was by far the best yet. The mirror, originally $195 without tax, ended up being $177 final because the guy gave me 10% off. Same with the window motor on my first visit. I'm planning on picking the mirror up Thursday. Hopefully everything will go alright.
