Has anyone listened to these guys? My buddy introduced me to their song "A Favor House Atlantic", and it is awesome!

But what this is about, is I cant figure out what the hell its about :dunno:

Here's the lyrics:

Your eyes tell the stories of a day you wish you could
Recall the moments that once have
Retrack the footsteps that brought us to this favor
I wouldn't ask this of you

Good eye, sniper
I shoot, you run
The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I called you and the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know the end of us all

Run quick, they're behind us
Didn't think we'd ever make it
This close to safety in one piece
Now you wanna kill me in the act of what could maybe
Save us from sleep and what we are

Good eye, sniper
Now I shoot, you run
The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I called you and the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know the end of us all

Bye bye beautiful
Don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
Face step, let down.
Face step, step down.

The words you scribbled on the walls
With the loss of friends you didn't have
I called you and the time is right
Are you in or are you out?
For them all to know

Bye bye beautiful
Don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
Face step, let down.
Face step, step down.

Bye bye beautiful
Don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
Face step, let down.
Face step, step down.

Bye bye beautiful
Don't bother to write
Disturbed by your words and they're calling all cars
Face step, let down.
Face step, step down.

This could go with such great mystery songs as "Hotel California" or "Stairway to Heaven"

Can anyone shed some light on what the hell this song means? Its driving me nuts!

It means that they have a hard time coming up with words that rhyme.

If you look in the 'favorite band' thread you'll see we already had a huge conversation on this.

Coheed and Cambria is the story of two people (Coheed, and Cambria) who get married and have 4 children (one of them Claudio, the singer). The story is still unclear, but a dragonfly infects Coheed (the father) and turns him into a Monstar. Bunch of crazy stuff happens, and that sums up the first album.

'A Favor House Atlantic' takes place very late in the story (track 10 on the second album). Essentially what happens in the previous tracks (Camper Velourium) is that a man named Al rapes Claudio's love interest, Newo. 'A Favor House Atlantic' concerns Claudio dealing with the news of his love being raped.

Huh...

Interesting. I didn't ever reply in the favorite band thread. Thanks for that though, very enlightening.

YAY!

Coheed and Cambria is my favourite band, simply because they are so much more then just a band. they are a musical storybook. Claudio, the lead singer, puts so much effort into his music that it's astounding. i've been listening to them for about 2 years now and i'm still not tired of them.

as eversio said, it's a story. Coheed and Cambria are husband and wife. each album is like a volume. you'll notice that the album titles have numbers in them (the first album was called "The SECOND Stage Turbine Blade", and the next one was called "In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: THREE", signifying that these albums are the second and third volumes respectivally). the fourth volume comes next, followed by the opening volume (which, according to reports, will not have a "1" in the title but will be called something simple to indicate that it is the introduction).

the entire story is about these 2 people and their 4 children and the trials and tribulations they go through. as eversio said, Coheed (the husband) is infected by a serum through a bite from a dragon-fly (hence why there's a dragon-fly on the cover of their first album and why a dragon-fly is one of the main symbols that the band uses). as of the second album, Coheed and Cambria are both dead as well as three of their four children. Claudio is the only one left (yes, the lead singer wrote himself into the story) and is out searching for the killer. every song is basically a chapter of this story, and once all 4 albums are released, the entire story will be released in comic book form.

don't limit yourself to only listening to A Favor House Atlantic. i think Co&Ca is the wrong kind of band to only be releasing one song at a time to the public, because in order to fully grasp their greatness, you have to listen to every song and know the entire story.

best band ever.

I went to their sight and downloaded the mp3's of a couple more, but I am going to get those two CD's as soon as I get paid.

I've only heard their song on MTV2, they are decent, dudes voice is a bit high for me and it just doesn't catch my interest I guess. and the whole story thing is a little too in-depth for me... basically I just like songs about chics I guess, New Found Glory(new cd rocks), Taking Back Sunday(new cd coming out later this summer), Yellow Car(cd just came out not too long ago), etc. I'm sure this means nothing to any of you but I just like to talk about music so I'm rambling for my own benefit :)

TBS is my second favourite band. i don't like either of the others cause i don't really like bands that talk about high school sweethearts and what-not.

i saw TBS on saturday, with The Used and Blink 182. it was awesome.

the used's new album comes out the same week as TBS's new one.

the in-depth-ness of Co&Ca is what i love about them. just proves how much their music means to them, and i can't wait to see them live at the warped tour this summer. i just caught the end of their act last year.

So, is the order of the tracks important to the storyline?

Mike: It probably is, just like The Mars Volta - De Loused in the Comatorium has to be listened to in sequence. It just doesn't work any other way :)

yeah. like i said, the albums are chronological, so the songs are also chronological. for instance, the last song on the first album, "neverender", is about a dream that one of the characters has (i can't remember who off-hand, forgive me), and the sound of the telephone ringining that begins the second album is also a part of that dream.

Well, I just read through all of the lyrics for the Second Stage Turbine Blade album, and I gotta say: I have no idea WTF is going on. How are you getting this story? I love the music though, just can't seem to decode the lyrics.

Claudio has done a small number of interviews in which he has outlined the story for us, but all the details and the exact track stories are left for us to decide. ie the Camper Velorium series, I'm just guessing, is about Al the Killer and how he's trapped Newo in his spaceship (which I believe is called The Camper Velorium). The lyrics to 'Faint of Hearts' is Al talking to Newo, 'Backend of Forever' is him getting angry over his past relationships (sort of a soliquoy (sp)) and 'Al the Killer' is about Claudio going to attack The Camper Velorium and save Newo (let this colony know, in the name of the dead, we're coming). Read the lyrics for those 3 songs, and maybe you'll see.

It also helps to decipher SSTB by understanding that Monstar is Coheed's monster form, Josephine is Claudio's sister and Apollo is (a) dog.

I would have thought Geddy Lee of Rush would make a better comparison..

They're not bad, I just can't follow a song if it telling me something that in-depth. Lower the dude's voice and I probably like them more.

Check and see if the sound card in your computer can change the voice pitch.

i hate it when people compare Co&Ca to Rush just because they both have high voices.

even my dad, when i first let him listen to Co&Ca, said "hey, they sound like Rush", at which point i groaned.

the high voice is really all that's in common, and even though they're both high pitched, their voices are very distinctive.

'they' don't sound like Rush, Claudio sounds like 'the Rush singer' is the proper way

and the dudes voice is, for me, what makes the band. otherwise they would sound like every other hardcore band on the scene.

cant wait for this comic book
