Exhaust cam shaft sensor replacement?

Hi All,

Few weeks ago I got service engine soon on my 2000 325Ci. Dealership said today that it is "Exhaust camshaft sensor" prob and quoted me for 340$. I was wondering if that's something I could do myself w/o special tools, or how difficult it'd be.
I've tried to find info on the net regarding this repair, but nothing came up. What I found was related to camshaft position sensor, is that the same thing?

Thanks,
Zvi

your 'dual vanos' engine has two cam position sensors, both mounted in that upper front cover just below the 'cam cover'. the intake cam sensor is on drivers side, front in the side of the cyl. head. the exhaust cam sensor bolts into the lower passenger side of the front cover and i believe it's harness connector is right next to it, below/behind the 'non-return' valve for the air injection. replacement isn't difficult once you find it.
