Stereo installation help...

Need some help from camarors…

I want to play CDs in my 96 camaro. I do not want to remove my stock cassette/radio stereo and install a CD player, so I thought of getting a CD changer with remote as an add-on instead.

I am not a sound buff and I am thinking of getting Pioneer cdx-fm1277 12 disc CD changer car player.
DO you think it is compatible to my stock cassette/radio stereo (Delco bose), and is there a port/connector from the stereo that can be wired to a CD changer system?
Will this be a tedious job in terms of installation?

I hope that I do not have to remove a lot of panels to do that.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
IF anyone out there can kindly forward me a link or know a place where I can obtain instructions for this removal/installation task, it will be marvellous!

Well there is a couple of ways to do this. One way, is if your stereo has the aux button, I believe a GM compatible changer will play right through the speakers. I have seen these OEM changers on Ebay for sale. Another way is to get a changer with an FM modulator. The changer will then play through an unused FM channel. The only thing I do not like about these are the fact that you limit a CD's dynamic range to that of FM stereo. Most people wouldn't probably even notice though. Call Crutchfield and talk to an advisor there. They can help you find the changer that you need/want.

If I am going via the FM modulator, does it meant that I have to pull out the stereo and do the wiring via the back?

best bet would be to hit up the car audio forum on AF, camaro guys might have the wiring schematics to tell you what color wires to splice into, but the guys in the car audio section are better for the details stuff.

Nope if you get an FM changer, you just have to wire the changer itself. The changer will have its own remote that you could stick with velcro somewhere. Easy install with no modifications to the factory equipment.
