Hey everybody, i'm in a stump trying to figure out what to do. My friend has a 89 LX with a 5.0L, 351 heads, auto tranny, and a 4-cyl 7.5inch rear end w/ 373 gears. My car has a 8.8 limited slip with 3.27 gears i believe. I'm trying to get power cheaply, that's what i'm trying to stand behind.
So, do any of you think it would be wise to do a rear end swap with him? The only problem is that only his right tire spins at all times, its not limited slip, and mine is. See, he has what i'm looking for (a set of 3.73's), and i have what he's looking for (a high rear end gear with limited slip). I cant really figure out what too do.
I keep on thinking that if i swap rear ends with him that all i do through 3rd gear is freakin' spin. But i dont know. I'm at a loss, any suggestions?

Hell no that aint worth it! The 7.5" rear ends are a dime a dozen first off. Keep the 8.8", that 7.5" will do nothing for you for future mods. Just get some 3:73's thrown in and be done with it.

Yeah dude, keep the 8.8" rear! Stay clear from the 7.5" you really don't want to be dealing with that.

K, thanks. I checked at MPS (a shop near my house). They told me it would be $400 for the install, and i can get the gears for $135. SO........ i better start saving......ah......there goes my friday nights. It will be worth it though

Sounds like a good price. Yah gears are the most noticeable starter mod, so I think you'll be pleased!
