Distributor Dilema

Wut up party people? Today i pulled out of work when i noticed that there was a really high pitched squeek coming from under my hood. I checked and heard that is was the distributor cap. I came home and read the thread about the distributor cap and i did what it told me to do. I put WD 40 on the distributor and replaced the cap. To my surprise the WD 40 did absolutely nothing to fix the problem and now there is a horrible grinding/rattling noise coming from the cap. Anyone know wuts up with my distributor?

your bearings are shot.. you need a new one my friend.. or maybe just repack the bearings, but they're definitely done for.. what kinda car do u have?
