i have a 91metro(automatic) with a locked engine i bought from my buddy for 50 bucks and i can buy a 89 metro with a good running engine thae car has been busted up real bad in from but engine is allright it has a manual tranny in it. will i have to change anything out besides torque converter and the fly wheel to swap the engine? i have never done a engine swap but i think i can handle it. i am just looking for advice since i will have the car before it goes to the junkyard. thanks in advance

nothing HAS to be changed, but i would check to see that idle speed and ignition timing dont need to be adjusted. i do know that on some vehicles the idle is slower on an automatic with a slight change in the timing. this is to compensate for the rpm loss that the clutch will cause while engaging from a stop

Agreed. Just bolt the engine in. You'll have to take the transmission out and attach it to the motor, then drop both back in. I've taken a 3cyl out before without pulling the auto trans, and it took me twice as long as it should have.

I think you'd be much more pleased with a 5speed. Convert it over to 5 speed if you have the parts car. The pedals bolt in, the shifter bolts in, all the stuff bolts up. A bit more work, but you'll be glad you did.
