I got the car 2 years and cannot figure out what the little silver switch under the driverside dashboard, next to the hood release. I know that the car won't start when I flip the switch. Is that all that it does??? Thanks.

prolly a fuel pump kill switch installed by previous owner..

Either that, or it's a switch hooked to an alarm system... Mine has one, that's what you use to turn the alarm off if you loose your remote or somthing. They also use it to program the alarm and clone remotes.

I think there was an alarm because where the clock is supposed to be to, the is a little red bulb. The thing that confuses me is that when the engine is running, I can flick the switch and the car will stay running. I wonder if it has other intentions, like a possible rev-limiter kill???

Thanks guys

o yeah what is that little red bulb to the left of the steering wheel. I keep forgetting to ask about that. It has a wire coming from it.

Sounds like an alarm LED to me... ?

And if that switch doesn't do anything while you have the car running, then who knows, I still say it's connected to an alarm system (or was at one point)... Why not try following the switch wires and see where they lead?

if the car is running a kill switch is not activated, just for the fact that if you are driving and flip it by accident, you wont kill your car, and slam into a truck.
