which would be a better vehicle. a 90ish 240sx with a sr20det or a 300zx with a vg30dett. the 240 is lighter car with mass hp potential and the 300 is a beast and all but heavier.

all depends into what you wanna do with the car.Drift ? auto x ? 240 would be the choice wanna drag you can make gobs of power with the 300... but then again you can make power with the 240 too. Its been covered so many times just search

300zx z32 twin turbo is superior to a 240sx, thats like comparing a v6 mustang to a z06

the Z32 would do better in auto x

Probably around 600-650hp with good tuning.

Wow, makes me think about the swap...How long can those motors last with such freakish HP?

what would a z32 run at a 1/4 pushing 800hp

logik23

Depends on driver and everything, and 800hp out of a VG30 isn't that easy, even Top Secret's VG30 powered 350Z only makes like 650.

But it is a hell of a lot easier than trying to get 800 out of an SR, if that is even possible, or a KA.

And not to mention, smoothness, more cylinders are sually a much smoother powerband, it's like a guy with short legs sprinter vs a guy with extra long legs jogging, they end up going the same speed.

i say u get the 240sx fast bak and drop a rb25det in it ull smoke the 300z's left and right

if you were going to get one of those motors i would just put it in the 240 ive seen an sr in a 300 b/f but whats the point in taking out a 6 cy and putting in a 4..?

gas. so ive seen a 800hp z32 run 11.5 , and the maxed out 600hp sr20 240 would run 11s too?. bs

That wouldn't be smart. The vg has more potential than those engines just because of more displacement. I'm not sure about the aftermarket on the vg but I'm pretty sure you have more parts for the vg in the US than you do RB parts. The only logic I could see was if you had a NA 300 but it is still too much work.

rb25det would be the best thing and if u upgrade that motor ull be a killer BUT if u have the money make ur car awd "all wheel drive" then ull rape people like crazy 300z are fast but the rb20det would rape it

It would be about the same. The Z32 chassis starts to suck ass when you get into the low 12's. Any motor that makes over 500hp would get you about the same times no matter what.

I disagree, the RB26 has much, much more potential then the VG, regardless of displacement, people have gottem over 1300hp out of rb26s and they still streetable, that's impossible out of a VG, but RBs don't fit in 300ZXs, well you can prolly make them fit but not without a hell of a lot of fabrication, it's not worth it.

I disagree to your disagreement. I believe that as far as stock vs stock goes, the VG can take more boost and deliver more power AND torque with no internal work.

Maybe, I don't know, even though, at stock level, RB26s are more powerful then VGs, but I said the RBh as more potential, so if you have money, that engines kicks ass.

you could prolly make around 390-400 hp with some major tuning..

nissanfanatic
09-02-2004, 02:07 AM
Just to let you know, the thread is pretty old. But 390 would be well beyond safe. Usually people don't go past 300whp before at least swapping pistons and having some machine work done. Connecting rods are forged, so they can take abuse(about 18psi). Don't try it at home.
