My Friend and his Pussy Honda...

My friend has a 1999 Honda Civic. He drove my car the other day (1997 Eclipse GS). He pulled around the corner of the court, he got out of the car, sighed a deep breath, and a tear rolled down the side of his face. Right then and there he told me straight up my car was cooler than his. :owned: . He now deeply regrets spending $7000 on his civic, when i got my eclipse for $5600 with less miles. I LOVE MY ECLIPSE! HAHAHA! HONDa SuCkS! :rofl:

Yes, Eclipse's are nice... but you can't stereotype that Hondas suck. They are very good cars: they're very reliable, known to get many mileage on the motors, and handle very nicely. It's just preference, because Honda Civics are more expensive, but IMO are worth their money. They are not known to blow head gaskets like Eclipses are notorious for and are expected to go 500k miles and still run. So, you can't say Honda's suck... they're nice cars (not fast, but nice hehe)

you stated it perfectly, HONDUH'S are not FAST. but at the same time you also stated perfectly what hondas were meant for, and that is being an economy car. they are good for what they were built to do, but IMO are worthless to try and make go fast, it is to much work and money for to little gain. :thumbsup: but it is badass that a little Honduh boi realized that civics are all that and a fat chick. ;)

EDIT>>> i forgot to mention, that NON-Turbo eclipse are pretty slow to, not knocking anyones car, but it is the truth. we have already established that it doesnt take much to be faster than a honda. hell i have a GSX and i think it is pretty slow, oh but once i am out of college how i will waste my hard earned paychecks on my car instead of food. lol. :biggrin:

If I wanted to make it fast, I would invest in a $4,350 b18c It-RDOHC engine, but could've bought a $10,000 car with that amount of hp already in it. So, basically, if you want to upgrade your Civic with a faster engine, it's whatever you like...

Civics can be fast though, but you have to swap the motor, and do some serious upgrades on....... well everything. K20 or B18c swap with boost will give dsm's a good run.

Yah, the B18C would be the only option if you like using the car as a daily driver as well as a more racing style. The K20 is just for straight line hp and torque, cornering on it isn't too great. But yes, Civics can be quite peppy with a 230 hp engine and more torque, but that's a $4,350 engine when you could've just bought a $10-12k car. I love my Civic don't get me wrong, if I wanted to race with it, I would invest in that engine, but I just don't have the want, time, pocket, or patience to do it.

I wouldn't say that ALL Honduhs are slow. I know a few guys around here that drive Prelude's that are very quick.

Well, nobody ever said that, we were saying that swapping the engine in a Civic and adding things to make it faster, would be too costly -- both money wise and time wise. Civics can be fast, don't get anyone wrong, it's just that you need to dump a lot of money in the car to do it, and you could've gotten a faster car with the money and time you already put into it.

first off, om not trying to make any arguments...so here goes.honda's "all rice" stigma is slowly wearing off... a civic with about 225 hp can contend with muscle cars with 350 hp (think power to weight ratio) im not sure how much eclipses weight, because i dont own one...i own a 1 ton 89 civic hatch that is as stock as the day it was purchased by my grandma (lol....funny.) ; except the "racing" seat covers my step dad purchased...

I know a guy that has a 99 si civic...looks pretty tight (electron blue). anyways on top of the v-tech he trew in a tubo kit and was running 15 pounds with stock internals...let me tell you his car DIPPED and was fun as hell. keyword WAS..he blew his headgasket and some other shit because he chose to go "cheap" and fast. guess what. He is buying an ECLIPSE!

any car can be fast with enough money thrown at it, but it comes down to cost effectiveness versus the gains you see. you will never see the power gains in a civic that you see in a dsm for the same money. that my argument i love my car as much as anybody, but you have to know when to call it a loss and buy a car that was meant to go fast and not to get gas mileage(even though eclipse do both pretty well). :thumbsup:

i helped a buddy of mine do a motor swap on a hatch back civic... we put a h22 prelude motor and tranny in it. this year he laid down a 11.5 time slip and i about shit my pants! i knew it was fast but i didnt know it was 11s fast!!! thats the fastest street legal hatchback i have ever seen! and the thing is a bitch to launch because it doesnt have power steering cause we couldnt fit it... so when you shift or launch you get torque steer so bad it will throw your arm if you only have one hand on the steering wheel! after seeing that time i have a whole new respect for hondas... well certain ones atleast!

but how much money did it take to get it there?

that whats the total he spent on everything! he found a prelude that was totally fucked... hit by a train so he bought the front half that wasnt completely fucked up like the rear! i think he got it for around $1200...

i rode in a Neon that had a viper engine in it... it sucked cause he couldnt get traction at all! it was impressive but you had to feather the clutch out even in like 3rd and 4th gears!!! but talk about a burnout... i bet that thing would win any burnout contest there is! that was probably the coolest part about the car except seeing the V-10 motor stuffed into a little neon like that! the car was a pile of shit too... everything seemed cobled together and didnt look very nice!

Yah, I don't believe you could put a V10 in a Civic bay unless you do some major modding and finding a way to fit it all in there. Plus, as EclipseRST said, you'll get no traction on it.

i have a 1982 Honda Turbo 650CBX in my collection... that is a fun bike for being 20yrs old... i wanna mod it out but its collectable so i havent touched it! its cool cause the stock BOV is really loud! maybe its just cause its on a bike... who knows... this summer i wanna buy a Honda Turbo Jet Ski... they are a lot of fun! i love turbo's!!!!!

one of the craziest swaps i saw was in my friends jeep. he has an older jeep wrangler but he put a corvette engine in it. its funny as hell to watch people pull up to him and he revs it up and everyones jaw just drops, unless its a riced out honduh then they try to race and get whooped up.
