Just recently my 240 has been goinf very sluggish. Driving alot slower then it should. when i let it idle it goes almost to a stall then goes up to 1.5 rpms . Goes back and forth and even stalled one time on me. I have no clue what's goin on.

ahh my dad just discovered something. at TDC the cams are supposed to be ( \ / ) for the dots but the dots r ( l - ) . Could that be causing my whole engine to be slow?

if your cam gears have slipped then you would know it your engine would be running sooo bad...i know i just rebuilt my head and i missed my cam gear teeth by one tooth and it ran horrible... it would be a very good idea to check that out. even though i dont know how that would have happened unless your timing belt slipped.

I think the KA's use a chain that can't really slip.

The timing chain has either stretched or the tensioner has gone bad. The chain can't slip, but it can skip a tooth on the cam gear if the chain tension problem becomes severe.

Actually, check out your mafs. Check the connection and clean the little prongs inside with rubbing alcohol and a q tip. It probably is your timing, but it would be a lot easier to find a little problem like this then to retime the engine.

probably a tensioner or cam gears. Somebody may have already replaced the timing chain and accessories. Kits are sold from a lot of places. The person who replaced it may have timed the engine improperly. It can happen when you put the chain on by having one or both of the camshafts turn slightly.

i see your car is a 91, they may have givin you a 89 or 90 part, cuz that would be totally different cuz of the sohc vs dohc. my car has some different parts that ive had to replace, and the shop has givin me parts that dont even look the same, just go back and get a different one, and specify you have the dohc 1991.

found out it was the bottom tensioner for the bottom timing tension. stupid thing was jammed so it wouldnt extend. to tighten the chain.
