Hey my 2000 rodeo clutch fans seems to be sticking sometimes. Once in a while when I turn it on the thing roars and sound like a cherokee. Im assuming that its the clutch fan sticking on because the electric fan isnt all that big. Has anyone replaced their clutch fan with an electrical one?? Is there some sort of kit I can buy to do it and not worry about overheating?

Clutch fans are quieter ,they use less "power"
when engine is "colder"(since the silicone in the hub let's the fan spin free of the hub til said silicone heats up enough to "lock the fan to the hub"),
They are generally more effeciant in moving air to cool fluid in radiator(Clutch type fans)
Did I mention that flex fans sound like a 747 taking off ??
..............mmmmmmmm.....flex fans are lighter so the bearing on the water pump is under less strain and then I guess the waterpump is under less strain,at reving since rotational mass is lighter
Flex fans will "flatten" out at higher speeds(RPM's)so they
have less drag this = less air flow......at trail speeds in low range flex fan may flatten out early???
causing temps to rise

The fan on our 2002 will sometimes roar for 5sec or so on a cold start, but then it quiets right down. Seems to happen after the truck was shut off & cooled down after a hot highway trip. As long as it doesnt roar all the time, you are ok.

I have a 1998 Rodeo 3.2L V6 2WD ...my third went bad about a year ago.. and I'm leaving it like that...at least until my belt goes again....

My first one got stuck on high and sounded like a small plane landing at all times... and was replaced when I was in a wreck in 2001, (although it was not damaged... I said I didn't know anything about it..and they replaced it too.) the second lasted about a year or two... and then went out ...and after a few months of overheating ... oil burning... and constantly carrying water to fill the radiator and oil that it likes to drink now.... I took it in to get it fixed at a Non-Isuzu place and after he got the right part... on the third try and second week of waiting without my truck, he replaced it with one from Isuzu.... within months it went out again. I took it back to the same mechanic and he said he would take care of it.... after a week or so I was called to pick it up.... I was billed for a Radiator Flush.... and he claimed that it worked....within days I had not heard the fan start not once --- My parents called him (he was their mechanic for 30 years)and told him what I had said... "that I could stick my finger in the fan after a two hour long trip I was so sure it was not working"...I was still overheating... He then refused to ever work on my truck again... so now I am back to riding around with extra antifreeze,... some water... and some oil.... works great just by keeping the fluids full... unless it's over 85 or 90 degrees outside...

On another note, I came here because I am going to attempt to replace the fuel pump myself, after being screwed over by most everyone that has worked on it... ESPECIALLY the Isuzu Dealer In Jacksonville NC .... do not deal with them ,... EVER... they thought I was an idiot and tried to turn a spark plug change and oil change into a 400$ job.... and after confronting them ..(and bringing in another mechanic from another local Dealer who called them on the bullshit....which nearly started a fight with their Service Manager right in the open office in front of other customers, totally unprofessional,... I walked out while they argued... After finally admitting they were wrong they offered to refund 200$.... I told them to Go to Hell...I didn't want the money anymore.... I've never been treated so rude by any business professional.... I just wanted them to admit they were wrong and trying to make me pay for something I didn't need or ask for.... or approve of beforehand... The mechanic I took in there's Service Manager ended up calling the Service manager at the Isuzu place... after their heated conversation about how the guy I brought there was treated... the guy called the Isuzu's GM for the area and reported him just to spite him.... It nearly turned into a Jerry Springer episode.

there's even more stories.. but as much as I love my rodeo and after basically rebuilding the thing ... partially myself, and 170,000 + miles.... I don't know that I'll go with Isuzu ever again.... just try to get parts for one at your local Parts dealer or get a repair manual for 1998 or newer.... you can't.... and everything has to be ordered if they can even order it.

Hope you all enjoy the pain which is my Rodeo...:-)
which has no trade in value because it was wrecked more than 25%.... and Im keeping til the wheels fall of just to get my money's worth at this point...
