Someone is offering to sell me a brand new Greddy Type-S BOV and Greddy UICP kit for $250. I looked around and the best I could find (new) for the Type-S BOV was $189 and about $200 for the UICP kit. Right off the bat, I'm thinking that I can save $139!! However, I started to think that maybe the UICP is a waste, since I could probably make a cheap one myself with ABS/PVC piping. Anyone have any advice as to which route to take? Obviously making my own UICP would be much cheaper, but what about reliability/fitting/safety issues? Any advice will be much appreciated.

Oh yea, and the BOV is already attatched to the UICP.

I wouldn't do a PVC/ABS UICP, but you can get a dejon for $105, RRE for $95, Dave Brode for $75 shipped.. and a 1g BOV for $40-50 or any of your choice for retail.

Ok, Dejon Tool has the "L" pipe for $105 and the upper "S" pipe for $85. Is the "S" pipe even worth replacing?

I'm not going to do it, I don't think it's that necessary. It DOES replace the TB elbow though, which is a plus. Save your money so that when you buy a frontmount it doesn't go to waste. "L" pipe is a good upgrade since it's almost flat under the fuse box.

The thing is, for $250 I get the Greddy Type-S BOV, and the upper "L" and upper "S" pipe almost brand new. The bov is also already connected to the ICP, btw.

If I took the route of just buying the Greddy Type-S BOV and the Dejon Tool "L" pipe, thats $294.

You see where I'm going? I get the extra "S" pipe and save 94 bucks too. I just don't know if the "S" pipe is even worth replacing.

If you want the type-S it's worth it to take that deal. If you want to save the most, the $75 dollar brode pipe with a $40 BOV will do you fine. Both options are good products. :)

i'd go with the 250 price. thats a good buy. i just lost an auction for new greddy pipe upper and lower kit for 150, i wanted it preatty bad. i'd say go for it. you can always part it out and still make $

Anyone ever made their own UICP? Is it safe? Lol. I don't mind spending extra for the Greddy Type-S, but 100 for 2 pipes just doesnt make sense to me :dunno: That's why I want to know if it's safe to make your own UICP, and what type of piping to use. Also, would I need to modify anything to make a 2 1/2" UICP fit? Thanks.

i considered making my own LICP, but then i talked to Kevin about it and he metioned some reasons to go against it, mainly the effect of the hot intake air on the glue. ABS/PVC are both good before the turbo and not entirely trustworthy after. besides how did you plan on attaching the BOV to the ABS??? hack it and use rubber couplings???. thats my $.02. ;)

Hehe, I see your point about the pvc/abs piping not being able to deal with the hot turbo heat very well. That being said, I'm planning on buying 2 1/2" hard upper piping. My only question is, will the 2 1/2" piping fit well? (because the stock piping is 2 1/4", right?)

i made all mine on the RST... my uncle has a mandrel pipe bender and thats all i used... the UICP is 3 pieces coupled together and the LICP is one piece... just weld a flange on the UICP for the BOV and your good to go!
