A word of advice:
Charge more money.
Car people can afford it, (we're talking about people with vehicles ranging from $20,000 to $100,000 or more) and they treat you better when you charge them more. They place greater value on what you do.
That has been my experience. Years ago I charged $45 - $75 a design and things were hard. People tend to try to take advantage of your generosity. (sad fact).
Now I charge no less than $400 for a design and depending on the complexity of color separations I need I have charged as much as $900 with no issues from the client.
My wifes equine art has been the same way. She increased her prices by 200% across the board and sold more paintings last year than in any other year.
Once again...just advice.
Your work is good.

p.s please note:
I adjust my scale for buddies like the 62 bug dude, and my father-in-law, but for the most part I stick to the higher range.

lemorris is correct. charge more money. nickel and dime prices create a stigma against artists in general. don't help the cheap-minded, biggoted, motherfu@ckers win. charge them. they will pay.

It depends how you look at it. Look at the youth these days, its all about imports. You go to a show these days and its primarily tuner cars. It the "new school" of the car scene.
Hot rods, hot rods are "old school". Most of the people that build them are older people. Not to mention they involve much more skill than tuners. I have done fiberglass work, and metal work, fiberglass is easier.
I guess its all the perspective, and where you live. When I go to a book store, grocery store, or Wal-mart/Target I see about 10-15different tuner magazines, and about 4 different hot rod magazines that are usually muscle car related instead of show rod. Like I said, perspective and area.

i sort of agree with you. often, the people with money, big money, are older. they're more established. they may own a couple of 46 caddys. or whatever.
my point is more about the artwork being generated. eventhough there may be more tuner zines on the newsstand, there are far more aritists patronizing the hot rod culture because it is more lucrative.
that is all good. and i do my share of hot rods, too. there is just too much of it. and there is a sort of renaissance, if you will, an offshoot of the hot rods: the lowriders. and that is younger people, older people. it sort of crosses over.

omincron, we must begin somewhere. don't worry about it. things will happen in due course if you want them to.
great hi-angle perspective drawing. besides the cartoony look of it, the only thing you f%cked up was the roof. the rear of it is just gone haywire. do the top of the roof just like you did the hood, keeping all lines and planes going the same way.
pretty darn good, there, fella, overall.
