My passenger side window doesn't work. Is there any way to test wether it is the motor or switch or something else?

disconnect the switch for the other window and put it in its place to test the switch, if that doesn't work then it's the motor.

you could also pull the door panel off and have someone press the window button and check for power at the harness.. COuld be a problem in the wiring

The driver side switch is different. I was hoping I could test it out through testing the continuity between the prongs but I think I will just take the door panel off and take a look at the motor it's self.

im pretty sure its the motor, they last kind of long it took my window motor 8 years to turn to crap, the only way you can check is if your battery is fully charged, and it still works like crap or doesnt move

Redvette, what kind of car and what year is it? I had to replace the motor in my 94 Camaro and it was a pain in the butt to do. Also does the motor do anything at all?

Every experience I had with a bad window motor, it never just up and went.. It was always a gradual thing.. SOmetimes itd work, sometimes it wouldnt.. and it got worse and worse than just quit all together

Well the guy that I got it from said the window went out all at once and didn't work after that. So what does that mean? I don't know, I think it's just time for me to get inside the door and test more things out. How often do these motors go out and how often do the switches?

Mine just went out last year, but it went slowly. Like one day it would only go half way then stop, then I'd have to wait about 10 minutes and it would go again. When I replaced the motor it turned out that the gears that the motor drives were binding up from wear. My guess is that if it just stopped working it could be electrical, such as the switch or a relay or bad connection something of that sort. But I wouldn't count out the motor, but like I said, it was a tough job to get it out and fix it.

That's what I'm hearing, that's why I'm hoping it is something else. It's a 95 z28 and it's got a couple of little problems like this. The doors would only lock not unlock (but I found out that's a switch) and I cant figure out how to get into it with out setting the alarm off after I set it and the door open switch was stuck. Does anyone know what the second wire is for on that switch, (the one between the door hinges for interior light and so on when you open the door) the driver side has two wires and the passanger side only has one. Thanks for all the help.
