Hi
I have a Taurus 89 3.0 L and my new battery descharge himself intermitently. The alternator is Ok ( and is able to charge the battery), the battery is 1 month old, the voltage is 14.5 Volts on charge if the engine run and 13.5 -12.5 volts if the engine is not running. I replace the voltage regulator 2 years ago. Could the voltage regulator be bad and discharge my battery? Please help !
Best regards

Hi, not sure if this is the problem or not but I'm looking into an electrical problem too. I came across a site that talked about Taurus's and Sables and an electrical harness that goes right next to the transmission. This is not a harness persay, it is the bundle of wires that goes over a sharp edge between the motor and transmission. Over time they found that a number of these bundles had worn down and exposed the wired inside causing them to short or break. It recommended inspecting the bundle and repair as necessary. I'm working on a sable right now and that same spot is through the outer shell and it is almost through a few of the internal wires. None are showing yet. I'll tape it off and tape some sheet metal under it securing it with nylong ties.
