I'm having a problem with my windshied wipers on my 96 Astro. Sometimes you turn on the switch and nothing happens. Sometimes they will work and then stop mid-window. After a little while they will start again. This has been very frustrating. Any ideas?

I have a 95 astro. My wipers acted the same way. I finally had to replace the wiper motor. Then I received notice from GM that they had a bad batch of motors, and that they were having a recall. It's been a couple of years since then. You might call a dealer and talk to them about getting it fixed no cost.

hello my name is manny and i just had this problem fixed by the dealer but you should check with a chevy dealer because you only have so much time because the recall time was about to expire.

The problem with the wipers is the pulse module in the motor itself and can be replaced without removing the motor.
just unplug the wiring harness, remove the 3 torx head bolts and plastic cover, grab the module and pull it out
can be purchased at the dealer or o'reilly auto parts the cost is about $35.00 and is a common problem from '88 to present day on all chevy and gmc trucks, suburbans. and astros usually works when its dry and not when it rains quick emergency fix is to tap on the module or wirnig harness to get it to work

Fix this for less than 20 cents. Run a wire from the body of
the wiper motor to a good ground in the engine bay. Your problem
was just a bad ground. Quite common on GM cars...

I received a recall notice on this from the dealer. Take it in and they will replace a board for free.
