Mitigation Hearing By Mail

About two weeks ago I got a speeding and overdue tag ticket. The license tabs were two months old which is $194. The speeding was 42 in a 25 mph zone. I am 100% sure that I was not doing that fast so I ask for a mitigation hearing to contest this. My question is in the mail with my court date I got a paper that allows me to write my statement out instead of going to court. I want to know if this would be better or if I should still go to court? I hopefully will be able to get this ticket differed but I don’t know how hard it will be to get done in writing.
Thanks in advance

I have several ticket-dodging resources for CA and NV, but none for WA, sorry. Good luck.
Make sure you clearly state that no matter what speed you were driving, you were driving SAFELY at all times. Or at least try and paint it that way...
