How good is the police spec caprice 9c1 transmission? is it the the same one as the impala ss? reiability and durability?

I don't know if its the same as the SS, but they are not reliable; Mine went wrong and also I hear from other owners that transmission go bad in the 9c1. Its a $2000 fix and ist not gonna be the same. "Heavy Duty" doesn't mean long life, it means that it withstands impact (collision) for a while, because thats what the cops need.
