Doesn't really do much to inspire me to rush down to the LHS and buy this.
When will Tamiya start building something that people want to build :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Am i the only one that things Tamiya have wasted there time on a kit like this :uhoh:

That's a reissue from several years ago, not new tooling. Tamiya's reissues are always welcome IMO but they could have chose something better than this!

Partially agree with FOTW,

True that it s a rerelease from some time now, that kit almost was unfindable here in Europe lately.

I built one of these five years ago now, and was very impressed, actually I do honestly think its one of Tamiya s finest.

Plus the very democratic prize they ask for it is more then worth this kit with crisp and clean molding and engine detail.

Also, the much awaited R32 Group A rerelease of the Calsonic skyline is about to be launched in a few weeks time, I can t wait to get my hands on that one (or two...)!

I dont particularly have a problem with their rereleasing policy, I think it benefits all of us.

But in the contrary, if they would have spent all their developpement costs on such a car ( thinking it s a genuine new release then) I agree, they must be stark raving mad.

Which they arent

When Tamiya has wasted time, you can buy Revell or Fujimi kit

What's wrong with a Jeep? It's the newest Wrangler kit made to my knowledge, everybody doesn't build sports cars and race cars? I like to build trucks and such. It's not like they spent money retooling it.

its a Jeep. I'd rather build that then a Skyline or another Silvia.

I can't really understand what you are nagging about. As others pointed out there is other cars than sports- and luxury cars out there. Not to say that I will sink my teeths into that one, maybe if I was to build a really dirty mini-monster jeep...but noooooo! Not my cup of tea, so I'll pass on this one. Just got a shipping message from HLJ and eagerly waiting for some spraycans so I can finally finish my Pennzoil Skyline, I'll post some pics when it's ready.

Sheers!

Well, considering that Tamiya hasn't realeased nor Vanquish nor Gallardo nor SLR nor Z4 nor Elise nor Zonda nor... most of the great designed cars of the last few years, you can consider they're waiting their time and competence making just Jeep or Honda Fit...

In other hand, I find having the opportunity to build a Jeep is really great (I conceed that these rims are particularly ugly!), and it would be nice to find a kit of all everyday life cars...

Maybe there's not enough dream cars modelers ready to buy 40-50€ kits to realease them...
Vox populi vox dei: if people want Jeep more than Jaguar... That's just the way it goes...

The day I'll feel too frustrated, I'll stop modeling...

I'm afraid I won't be able to stop!

Nope, I will probably buy it. I wanted a Jeep, and was disappointed with what Revell offered. This looks good to me!

Personally the subject sucks, but as other's have stated its a re-release and hopefully they will use the money made off it to tool something newer, sleeker and faster!!!!!

I'm w/ Pman on this. Its not the Jeep that pisses me off as much as the lack of progress at making models ppl want to buy.

they've gone from removing engine detail to halting production of new kits period. What happened to them? Resting on their laurels maybe :dunno:

One other problem I'll never stop ranting about is again, engine detail. I want the option, if I want curbside its pretty easy to leave the hood down.

maybe some of us wanna build 4x4s. I can't really disagree though...it'd be nice if they'd get on the ball here and start releasing some more new stuff.

I agree completely!! They haven't really given me a reason to praise them much lately. I'm not a fan of the Enzo and probably won't get the Carrera unless it has an engine. I have enough Tamiya Skylines to last a few years so they need to give us something to keep us appeased for a while. :2cents:

IMO Tamiya is just paying too much attention to the RC people out there. Just check hlj.com what they come with every month to please those people. Actually, I guess there is more money to make in the RC Business, but hey, actually the Wrangler is not giving me such a rough time. I think they should stop developing another "Calsonic Skyline", etc. Come on, what do we have Studio27 for???

Go ahead Tamiya, go for the real beauties Zonda, etc. and all the classics of great auto engineering!!!

I agree w/ godfather, Tamiya is definitely investing more time and R/D into R/C than static models, mostly because the profit margin is much greater. But look at the kits they have released; the Enzo and Williams F1 BMW FW24 are stunning kits that IMO are top shelf and hopefully the Carrera will be on par with them. Although they're not pumping out kits like Fujimi, the ones they are producing are awesome.

and being a Jeep guy, I love the Tamiya Wrangler. the detail is very well done (although it's the export version of the Jeep), and guess what... there's even an engine! A kit like that can be a nice break from the usual imports/sports car/hot rods on the model shelves. It will look nice next to my two CJ's and Grand Cherokee.

Not matter what. Bottomline is, when Tamiya finally releases a new model kit, chances are it will be second to none in terms of price-point vs quality and detail.
