I just bought a non-running 96 Grand Am SE (4dr). Today, I got it running after changing the ignition module. But I noticed that most (all?) the dash isn't working. The tach is on 0, the coolant and fuel are on 0, etc. Several idiot lights are on too like "Check Oil", "ETS Off", "Air Bag" and the one for low coolant.
The car was in a minor front collision, but the bags did NOT deploy. The front bumper is off for now.
Can someone give me an idea on what may need fixing to get the gauges working again?

I have a running version of the same model and I have the same problems (without known accident damage to the car). Have you heard from anybody about a possible soloution? It would be appreciated.

I bought another gauge cluster off E-bay. It did not fix the idiot lights, but the gauges now work. It you do the same, you'll need to follow these directions.
1. Change the cluster (I think it was 6 screws and 1 electrical connector).
2. Turn the key to on, and try to start the car (it will start and then shut off with the Security light blinking).
3. Leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes. The Security light will go solid on.
4. Start the car (w/o turning off the key). Once the car has run for a few seconds, your new dash will work correctly with the car. Use key normally from now on.
