It really is a "small world"

I had a best friend in grade school whom I have lost touch with. Sadly enough, we haven't spoken in years :( But, his mom and my mom have kept in periodic touch.

So his mom sends my mom an email recently (Friday) saying that my friend's little brother will be Saturday Night Live last night. Turns out he's the drummer in a fairly successful rock band, and they are to be the misical guest on SNL!!! Not too shabby. So I tune it in last night, and his band is The Strokes, which I have to admit I don't remember ever hearing of, but I know one of the songs they played last night. How strange to think that I had heard a song on the radio, and that the drummer was my good old friend Fabrizio Moretti (afterall, he was of course my friend too through his brother), whom I knew way back when he was only 4 years old - completely without my knowledge.

Like I said, small world...

JD!! The Strokes are on MuchMusic right now! The video for Last Nite. Does your friend there have a fro? Cause the drummer does in this vid...

Pretty low budget, but otherwise cool vid :) Your drummer friend knocked both boom mics over with his sticks....

Last time I saw him, his hair was straight (well, maybe slightly wavy.. some people's hair appears to change as it gets longer - including my own) and short. The hair color is definitely right on. On SNL, I saw enough of his face to confirm that it is him. Good old Fabrizio :D :D :D

Holy. I just heard a commercial on the radio that said the Strokes are coming to Bayou City. They will be here in Houston soon or so I heard.

I used to dislike Fabrizio when I found out about his newfound fame and success. Now I hate him since I found out today that he's dating Drew Barrymore!!!

:D Please note that I am kidding above. Success and good fortune couldn't have befallen a more artistic and talented (let alone kind-hearted) person. Cheers to you Fabriz :sun:

ACTUALLLY, the drummer doesn't knock over the overhead mics...the guitarist goes way wild on his lead/solo deal, jumps up on the riser, and gives it a good shaking, which knocks over one mic, and then during the break, the Fabrizio gives a four click intro on the stand, which knocks it off the riser, taking the other mic with it. If you listen closely, you can hear a big difference in the toms and cymbals before/after the mics go "boom" :) I love that video
