as long as those rust spots aren't thru the metal you shouldn't have too much trouble with the body. The doors should prolly be replaced, along with the interior, you may be able to re-cover the seats. As for the engine, I couldn't tell ya, you may be able to clean it up and rebuild it. Or, if you wanna bring it to Ohio, I'll just trade you straigt up for my RS.

then again, that would be stupid on my part, $1500 and the 70 and you can take the RS :D

The car has only 2 owners the person before my dad and my dad so the car has more sentimental value than your RS does. I am going to get the car in about a year and i wanted to start working on the vehicle my self. The rust is no through the body and the engine run like a champ just looks like i bought it from a junk yard.

Eh...that's a pretty beat up champ. Take it in to a machine shop and have them acetone blast the engine bay. Get everything sparkles again.

my RS has plenty of sentimental value, to me at least, it's my very first car.

With something like that, I think if you have alot of free time most of that can be fixed with minimal cost. I actually think its a very good starting point to resote an old car because the body is in overall good shape (just some surface rust) and you said the engine is good. Just gotta focus on that interior and get some of the smaller kinks worked out.

Mike i do no see any rust on the underside of the car. I live in wa state western side. the car is ok to drive if i get the tire and get a battery. one mechanical thing my dad just told me that needs to be fixed is the alignment on the car.

Does the cool vine weed come stock ? =D J/k.

You might want to replace the belt before firing it up. It looks a bit old and it that same one drives the water pump , well..you know. So inspect er' fist for cracks and severe damage , make sure all your fluids are good and let her rip.If she's jus been sitting then everything mechanical shuold fair out for the most part. Might need a gasket or two at most just from age. Check into Armadillo Automotive like I said , I know Tim ( as I used to deal with them a lot. ) He can cut pretty sweet deals too if you talk him into it. Get some doors , some seals , a new undercoat then it's mostly all interior. Pick up a set of seats from a junk yard or do a custom mount of momo seats =D with 5 point belts. Heh , sounded good ...almost.

Anywho , I hope your getting lots of good tips that will help you out along the way.

Nick.

wow, really felt like punishing yourself eh??? its ok, i did the same thing with my IROC, just not on the same scale. pretty much my advice for you, is to park it on jackstands, and first things first, strip the interior down to bare metal and give yourself a look at what youre dealing with. check the trunk, rear window, and drain holes in the fender for rust spots. but yeah, from what i saw, nothin a little elbow grease and some spare time wone have attractin all the hotties on cruise night.

Looks like you put yourself in the same boat as I did with my '79 :) That's a good foundation for a build though..... take the time to do it right the first time.... you'll save money and headaches! Good luck with the project!
