Anyone else have a knack for bargain shopping? I just spent most of today installing my new stereo.
Bargains:
2 x 10" Jaycar Response Carbon Cone Subwoofers in a ported box with neon surrounds: $40 (emergency sale - originally asking $220)
4 x 100W Soundstream Amp $36 (Ebay sniping bid)
Complete wiring kit $45
---
Total $121
Labour $0 4 hours
:D:D:D Stereo sounds bloody good now. Will post pics soon. Next is an active crossover network.
Now consists of a 4x50W Pioneer HU, 4" 3 way Kenwoods at the front, 5x7" JBLs at the rear and what I mentioned above.
Anyone else been bargain shopping lately?:D

Eh, not much. Picked up a 2t trolley jack and a pair of 3t jackstands for about 80 bucks. Charged it to the company at discount, will pay it tomorrow.

Yes...for just $4 I acquired and installed a device that ensures that I will no longer be bugged by dimwits in riced out hatchacks as I sit at the lights.I was getting kinda tired of the eejits who don't know the difference btween a GTR and a GXI and feel obligated to drag me at every set of lights, often stalling hopelessly on the line and causing a safety hazard in the the process.
For just $4 I bought two nodding dogs from the $2 shop and placed them on the parcel shelf of the Skyline.Stakes out my territory as 'old geezer who thinks streetracers are hoons' quite nicely. :iceslolan

bought a 1989 Honda CRX Si yesterday for NZ $750
Good engine with only 130km on it, decent gearbox and ok interior (dirty as fuck but no rips - nothing a vacuum + shampoo wont clean off.) Got a bit of rust in the rear guard, needs 2 new tyres ( and most likely a wheel allignment.) Not that I give a shit - put a WOF on it this morning + gonna buy a 3-months rego for it on monday, bog up the rust and primer + spray the guard and try to sell it for a nice profit :sunglasse

got a new axle for my integra the other day. quoted $70 for it but I got it for $50 after I discretely told them I work in my colleges garage. so the guy says hang on lets see if we can save you some money. hehe. so he used the school's purchase order number to give me the schools discount then just charged it to my credit card instead of the schools.
thing is I stopped working there about 2 weeks ago :naughty::evillol::naughty:...

I also have a method for getting cheap automotive bits, as a matter of fact I get them for free. Some call it theft, but I'm just trying to make a living and buy me some P bro!

Ummm... how's double-digit % off the sticker price of most new cars (fleet discount), trade/wholesale on most parts including tyres (which being S-03 17s are going to cost a fortune to replace...)
I normally work on the theory (being formerly a wicketkeeper in cricket) that you better to ask a question than to go not knowing the answer. When I was outfitting the house - someone I know gave me the instore stock bar-code encoding algorithm for a retail chain that tells you what the cost price actually is.
I didn't buy my stuff there just found out how much the cost price was for each item and then haggled for a house-lot somewhere else safe in the knowledge of what the stuff actually cost...
Haggling usually involves information asymmetry ie the salesman usually knows more than you do... but when you know what the stuff costs them it means you end up having a trump card...
