Trying to hook my ride up

What can I do to get my escort to increase the speed I'v got a 88 ford excort 1.9 I don't know what else you need to know to help me. but post back and help me out please.

theres this chip out there that the lowest one is 20 hp and the highest one is i dont kno i saw it in a magazine so i would say put a chip in it cuz 88 there is computers in so you have to do it with a computer
