Hey i dont know too much about mitsubishis, but i do know that the 4g63 is a strong engine that has been around for a while. I want to know what cars came with the 4g and what cars can have it swapped into them, also how much would those swaps be and how much does a 4g63 costthanks

You can put it in certain mitsubishi's. The ones that already have them. Otherwise you are talking custom, and I doubt you want to finance that.

Well, the 4g63 is in the 90-94 talon, eclipse and laser, and the 90-91 Galant vr4. Hyundai even used a 1.5 version of the 4g63 in their 90-94 excels, making the excel a perfect canidate for a 4g63t swap(direct bolt on, even the excel tranny works). Yes, it will be one hell of a sleeper. But why a 4g63, actually they have a crap load of probs. I know i hate my GS-T, they are OK when it comes to power, maybe to make about 350 hp, if you want to do an engine swap with a 4 banger get the 3sgte motor from the 90-96 turbo Toyota MR2. Basically it's the 4 cylinder version of the lenendary 2JZ....it's actually like 75% 2JZ in a smaller block....there are people who actually have 700 hp on the stock block and it's their daily driver! This is the best 4 banger by far ever made i think. A matter of fact i am going to swap one into my 88 RX-7.

I wish I had a 4g63. I guess the 420a is the best bang for my buck.
For now.

Who complains that their stock internals only support 450whp? If you actually were dissapointed with only running 11's (terrible, I know), you should be buying internals anyway. I wouldn't call an engine that can run 7's 'OK at power'. Try making any reasonable horsepower out of another 2.0 liter motor with reliability. The only reason people assume the motor breaks is because people run so much power compared to reliable honda weedwacker motors pushing 250whp (fully built too).

i transplanted a 4G63 turbo into my 92 eclipse GS but i got the engine for about $800 turbo and all
but i wouldnt recommend tring to swap it yourself unless you know what your doing

7's if you rebuild it every two passes down the track....I'm just saying the 4g63 is highly over rated...crankwalk, bending valves, blowing headgaskets, ECU's blowing.....the list goes on and on.....3sgte all the way, it's 4 times stronger than the 4g63 and will get you WAY better gains, not only that but when you get to the 350 hp mark you gotta tear down the motor and start replacing internals, where as the 3sgte it's not until like 600-700....so it'll be cheaper to go that way instead of the mitsubishi motor....i know ya'll are die-hard DSM fans but ya'll know I'm right on this one.

It only breaks because of how much power it can create the same is with the 3sgte or for that matter same with any engine you add "crazy" amounts of horsepower to...

You didn't listen to what I said. 7's is a built motor, yes. How many 2 liter toyota motors are running 7's or 8's (8.6 in a street car)? 6 bolt motors DON'T get crankwalk, bending valves.. uh, no? none of the stuff you listed happens any more to a 4G63 than any other car ever made.

Again, I corrected you before. A stock motor can handle 450whp. Are you really saying you are angry that if you want to run 10's you have to replace the rods and pistons? Oh, gee... that sucks. A 10 second car isn't inexpensive, so who cares.

How many fast celica/mr2's are there compared to DSM's? You are calling one of the fastest 2.0 liter blocks in the world slow and unreliable? Think again, I don't see any toyotas at the track.

ecu's blowing is a very cheap fix and happens to lots of cars. valves only bend if you throw a timing belt which u wont if you replace them when your supposed to. LOTS of cars get damaged WAY worse then eclipse's if they throw the timing belt

any motor can get crankwalk!!! most people know it as thrust bearing failure... 6 bolt motors have got it before but its very very rare!!

not just timing will bend valves... if you do not have strong springs you can get valve float up around the higher RPM's where the spring isnt strong enough to pull the valve back quickly so the valve stays open longer allowing the piston to make contact in which it bends the valve as it comes back up to TDC!
