Well, I am pretty sure I know what most of you will say... but I have a question before starting in on a head job. I have oil accumulating in my coolant bulb. No foam in the oil (in the crankcase). No white smoke for exhaust. Is there any chance it could be the filter base? is that some type of a cooler? Well... My driveability problems have been put on halt. Any suggestions, Please note them ...

Ok... After a bit more research I see the oil cooler at the filter base has been somewhat of a reoccouring problem with any vw with a cooler. I must say I have (in the past) been rather unfamilier with the anemities of the 88and up vw's. My rabbits and bugs never bothered with that cooler. Does it actually need that??? If so.. What increases temp from my old GTI motors? Just a thought. MOST importantly, any good source for the coolers? I am reluctant to get a used one because I do want to keep this one for a while. Thanks for all help in advance!

Fixed:) Oil cooler was the culprit. 6 bucks for 2 of them at a u-pullit junk yard!
