We are working on a 99 Trooper with the 3.5 DOHC engine. The guy ran the engine low on oil and it developed a knock. We removed the engine and repacled the crank and bottom end bearing. Nothing on the top end was touched or removed.Once the engine was reinstalled it imidiatly displayed code P0300.
None of the plugs on the right bank are firing. We have swaped the coils from one side to the other with no change. The funny thing is if you pull the coil out insert a plug and ground it to the motor it work, but it will not fire will in the head. Also the right side of the engine never gets hot, you can touch the manifold.
Has n e one had this problem before, or know of what we might try next?
Please help we are lost!!!
Thanks,
NHOTH2O

wonder if you're getting any gas to that side of the engine? Can you pull an injector and see if it is spraying gas?
I would also check the wiring harness for a short. in the area that is causing the injectors not to fire.

Sounds like you are getting juice to the coils. Are you 100% sure you have the valve timing set properly? One of the timing marks may have gotten away from you on reassembly, or is 180deg/360deg off.

Ok, I found the prob. thought it might be usefull to know.
We discovered through trial and error that the cam timming marks line up 4 times before it comes back to where it started. So just because you line up all the marks it can be 1080 degs off (yes 1080 not 180) No book tells this or shows it. Every thing we read said to line up marks and it is ready.
We found this by spinning the cam around and watching the cam lobe (you can see it throught the oil fill). We had to turn the cam 4 times to get it back to where we started.
I thought this could help others since i've never seen it written. If you need more specifics e-mail us at [email protected].
Thanks for the replies it made us look more closly at the timming. Sometimes when you look at problem to closely you forget the basics.
Thanks again,

Good deal! glad to hear you got it. Once again proves that the 1998+ 3.2/3.5 is a non-interference engine
