i just walked inside from looking at my 92 cav z24 v6 3.1L and everythings been fine with it, got home last night, all ok... went to start this afternoon and when i turned the key i just heard clicks and the ABS light flashed on when i turned key, i did that like 10 times, went inside to get me brother and then he stuck key in and it clicked once, the 2ns time it started for him, it ran for 30 seconds then he shut it off, then tried to start it again, now all we get is just clicking noise from the starter maybe, a box with 4 wires comming out of it, no one that knows cars has looked at it yet, just me and my bro.. so if anyone knows whats up or can point my in right direction that would be helpful, but its ok if u dont

There are several things that could be your problem. First the starter could be going bad. The clicking you hear is the starter solenoid trying to engage the starter but the battery is too weak to turn it over. Second, you could have a dead alternator as well as a dead battery. If it started and then died that could indicate that the alternator is bad as well as the battery. Try putting a new battery in the car or jumping it with another car. If it starts and you disconnect the jumper battery and the car dies, then both your battery and your alternator will need replaced. If it starts and runs then only the battery is bad. Just a few ideas to help you out.

Look into replacing that starter real soon. When they go bad it'll be all at once.
I have a '93 and mine dropped me cold at a gas station. Shut it off, filled the tank and that was all she wrote. Replaced it the next day. No more trouble.

Under a hundred bucks usually. Check the auto zone web site. they are usually about average on price.

I had a similar problem with my car, turned out to be the park/neutral position switch. Is it automatic? Can you start it in Neutral?
