Why the hell do people steal integras?

I saw that they are the number 2 stolen car.

What makes them so special that they would be number 2?

Some kind of saturn or what not is number 1. I believe they steal the engine from the saturn and drop them into the integras, is that right?

I havent had my integra for long, its not all hooked up or anything but respectable and I havent had anyone try to steal it yet.

Makes me kind of worry about fixing it up.

Any of you have problems with people trying to car jack you?

the easier they are to steal the more they are going to get stolen hence why saturn is #1 they are easy to steal

integras are fairly easy to steal and with the more and more gang members and drug dealers turning out to be car admirers they become a good choice for them.

to steal an integra you just have to get under the hood and to do that with an integra is easy you just reach under the front end and manually pop the hood where you can unlock the doors and deactivate the alarm with a little knowledge and its acuras is because the engines are way better than civics so they steal gsr's or type r's and steal the engine and tranny which is why you see alot of salvaged shells for sale in so cal espeacially.

yeah saturn engines are bigger..I think they are a 2.2 or something while the integra is what 1.8?

nobody puts saturn engines into integras.

integras are not #2 most stolen cars, and saturns aren't #1.

integras are stolen a lot because they are very sought after cars, everybody wants one or parts from one.

i always thought the accord or camry or something was #1 stolen, and the civic wasn't far behind it. the list I saw was about 3 years ago though so maybe it changed.

ya, I just saw a report the other day that says that the #1 stolen car in america is a 1989 toyota camery. Doesn't even make sence, who wants a 89 camery? And I don't know who told you that people put saturn motors in integras, but it is not true. Who the hell wants to swap out their very coveted b18c motor for a piece of shit saturn motor. Just because it has more displacement doesn't make it better per say.

1. Toyota Camry
2. Honda Accord
3. Honda Civic
4. Oldsmobile Cutlass
5. Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee
6. Chevrolet Full-Size C/K pickup
7. Toyota Corolla
8. Ford Taurus
9. Chevrolet Caprice
10. Ford F150 pickup

The top 10 stolen car list. I did see the list Yahoo had put out a few days ago, and it did say the Saturn whatever was the #1 stolen car. But there were other factors to their system. And the 95 thru 99 (I think) Integra was also on there. Another reason why they are so popular to steal is, the parts. They are very compatible with Hondas, and you can mix and match parts with each other.Like the LS block and the GSR head being very popular swaps.

saturn used to be the #1 my dad is an auto theft detective
anything honda and has a swapable motor is high risk to be stolen

When a car is stolen it has two paths it can take.

1)The thief steals a car and takes it to a chop shop. The chop shop then strips down the car for parts because some cars are worth more in part than the whole car, then sells the parts to a parts distributor and the local parts store buys the parts from the distributor. And we buy the parts from them.
2) Some punk steals it for a joy ride.

I think anything that is very popular at some point is also high risk. for instance an 89 camry isn't a very sought after car but just the fact that there are millions of them out there (just like accords and civics) makes it by probability alone to be a highly stolen vehicle... sorry if any of that is incoherent:sly:

Jetts: Does your pops say Saturns were #1 or a specific Saturn model? just curious.

BTW: Watch that 89 Camry talk...That was my first car. lol.

Damn that is crazy. If you exclude spacific years, then the integra overall is the most stolen car, 6 of the top 10 most stolen cars being different year integras. No wonder my car has such high comp.!

might wanna get a fm pager alarm though chief...or keep it a sleeper...put those gs/rs wheel cover wheels and shed that spoiler... :)

I think the reason that the saturns are number #1 is because the saturns from the early 90's had crappy motors in them (well still do) and the had alot of trouble with the head cracking if i remember right and the heads off the motors are worth alot. i donno thats just my idea. as for the integra, probably just easy to steal, and on top of that, the motors are worth alot. thats the reason you see so many motor-less shells all the time in junkyards.
